I don’t understand why people make such a big deal out of that line. It’s obviously a lie to motivate Luke to want to use it.

I see it as a lie too, but maybe removing it altogether would make things less complicated.

We could imagine that Anakin told Obi-Wan that, if one day he have a child, he would want it to have his lightsaber.

Oh my, if Vader says something along these lines in the final episode, the show will be even better to me. This is a huge plothole that George Lucas created, unfortunately
