So with the latest episode of Kenobi, is anyone working on deep-faking Anakin in the practice-fight scene with Obi-Wan?

Came across this one for anyone interested in how a ‘younger’ Anakin could have looked like in the latest episode - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL-N2ywWhOw

(another interesting thread EddieDean, by the way)

Here’s just a comparison to show just how radically different Ewan McGregor looks in Attack of the Clones compared to the flashback scene.

Yeah, that missing forehead spot really took me out of it… 😃

It’s way more than just that. He looks much younger, his hair color is different, even his beard his a little different. I will say that if anyone plans on using deepfakes on this flashback to make Ewan and Hayden look closer to how they appeared in Episode II, I strongly recommend to not limit themselves to using footage from just the movie. Also use footage from the deleted scenes, behind the scenes material, outtakes, interviews, trailers, etc.

Indeed M L, I was just kidding around with you - but the lack of care taken with trimming/colouring Obi-wan’s facial hair (in the lightsaber scenes with Anakin) to match a little closer to how he looked in ‘Attack Of The Clones’ is just a trivial detail to me in the scheme of things…compared to my own bigger bugbears concerning the many dodgy ‘creative choices’ and contradictory aspects seen and heard across ALL the live-action offerings which came after the Original Trilogy, including the ones in ‘Attack Of The Clones’ and this current show.

Anyway, back to this Deepfake malarky. I happened to come across this creepy one the other day - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPU0WNUzsBo

And here’s a short teaser from the guys behind it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_oUcVxKtqg

That Anakin one looks great. Honestly, other than the hair/beard color, I really don’t think Obi-Wan facially looks that much different. {shrugs} My big issue, is that I’d really prefer that it be Anakin post AOTC – with a different lightsaber and the hand-issue. I think that would fit better with ROTS. I’m unlike many in that ROTS doesn’t really work for me, but this series could possibly – with an edit of the two together finally make it work. I think this fight scene taking place in ROTS would work better in terms of his aggression personally to show that build-up. Alas, it’s not just the deep-fake, but the other two things with him.

I’m not an expert or professional when it comes to producing deepfakes. However, I have been trying to deepfake Samuel L. Jackson onto the background fill-in in one of the last scenes of The Phantom Menace, where someone else was playing Mace Windu. Unfortunately, DeepFaceLab only recognized the background fill-in’s face for the second shot, not the first. I don’t know anything about making VFX, but I think it would be much better if someone just digitally mapped Jackson’s face onto the guy, as it would be far easier.

And yes, I am aware, there still needs to be more training than what is shown here, but I am just showing to let everyone know the final result may not look good.

After some tinkering and training, I’ve officially given up on putting Samuel L. Jackson’s face onto the background fill-in. It would just be better to digitally map Jackson’s face onto him. I’m moving onto my planned Qui-Gon deepfake, which I may upload to my YouTube channel.

I’d be keen to see what you come up with! Could you please PM me a link to your You Tube channel?

Cheers!

The Qui-Gon Jinn deepfake would be de-aging him in the last scene of the series. I also plan on de-aging Obi-Wan in the flashback, since people have already fixed Anakin’s appearance.

Hey, everyone. I’m sorry to disappoint you all by saying this, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to get this deepfake stuff to work out properly. I don’t think my computer can handle all this power. If anyone else out there would like to try their hand at what I was attempting to do, go for it!

Who makes the best deepfakes currently?

I’d say Shamook.

The reason I ask is I heard jarkan fixed up some of his deepfakes and made them a bit better.

He did with his Luke Skywalker one.

So not the leia and tarkin deepfakes then?

Nah. I think Shamook’s Rogue One deepfakes looked far superior compared to Jarkan’s.

Am I wrong in thinking the only flaw in deepfakes is skin textures because the skin looks smoothed out on tarkin.

Looks pretty good, if you ask me. But I do see what you’re talking about.

Yeah like wrinkles birthmarks etc. are basically smoothed away.
