Really loving these first two edits. I’ll post a longer review when I can but the only things that I didn’t like about the Last Jedi fanedit were:

  1. The music when Luke enters Crait didn’t seem to fit the seem and didn’t feel “Star Warsy” to me. I’d change it back to the original soundtrack, including during the duel with Kylo.

Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. Would love to read your longer review later when you have time.

Hmm, I only used Star Wars music in my film so I’m not sure how it didn’t feel “Star Warsy” haha. The tracks in that scene were Anakin’s Dark Deeds and Luke’s Theme. That’s about as Star Warsy as you can get!

  1. The ending with the First Order taking over didn’t seem as good quality as the other parts of the edit, and made it seem more “fan-edity” than the rest of the film, which was excellently restructured and cut back together.

Yeah I totally agree here. The vfx are not up to par here and I was more using that as just a concept sketch for the idea of showing Palpatine return. I think I do like that direction but I’ll definitely swap out the scenes and touch up the music. Taking another look at this idea as a whole though.

Overall amazing work. Keep it up and send me the Episode 9 workprint!

Thanks! I will as soon as I render the latest Alpha cut.

Great work little bit needs to be done on to rough out the edges.

The only thing is balance of the force doesn’t mean acceptance of dark side principles because that leads to anger and hate.

The old jedi order did make mistakes in their narrow mindedness to dogma but balance means that there is no sith because the sith use it for their own selfish desires but the jedi use their powers for the common good this actually explained in the legends book truce at bakura.

I know this sound like a rant but it’s not even if you continue with the same idea of balance i will support you because I Am a legends fan myself.

Thanks for watching, and I appreciate you taking the time to write. Delpheas hit the nail on the head there in his response. I highly recommend reading the Dawn of the Jedi series (novel + comics) and playing the KOTOR series to get a complete picture of what balance in the force means in Legends. I think you are conflating the Sith with the dark side as a whole. The Sith developed a dogmatic, foolish, narrow minded doctrine of the Dark Side just as the Jedi did with the Light Side. As George Lucas explained, the Dark Side represents selfishness and the Light Side represents selflessness, and if you completely focus on either of those, then you are bound to fail. Focusing solely on the Dark Side and selfishness leads to hatred towards those around you, but if you solely focus on selflessness and the Light then it will lead you towards prideful piousness and eventually total pacifism, also causing those around you to suffer.

The original Je’daii would banish force users if they solely focused on the light or the dark, and they demanded absolute balance between the sides of the force. This was even written in part of the original Je’daii code “I am the revealing fire of light. I am the mystery of darkness. In balance with chaos and harmony, Immortal in the Force.” This proved to keep peace in the galaxy, and it was only when these force users started to choose sides that war began to ravage the galaxy.

Also I have a request maybe try adding Mara Jade via a dialog that implies she died before the sequel trilogy just thought it would nice to see a core legends character come.

That would be cool to include, though I’m not sure I have the capability to produce something that is believable enough. I will ponder how to include as an easter egg perhaps.

Also would love to see your alpha version of TROS

Great, thanks. I will send as soon as I render the latest Alpha cut.
