Beauty and the Beast is the one on this list that I’m dying to find. This title has suffered the most among the renaissance era after remastering for DVD and Bluray since the Laserdisc release.

The original academy ratio of 1.37:1 has been changed to 16:9, causing cropping and losing parts of the picture. The color changes to brighten the film also are drastically different and looks awful.

Please let me know how this process can be done. And I’d like to know how I can contribute.

I thought you’d had BATB rescanned because of the wobble on reel 4:

I did re-scan it, that reel has a printing error. If the original scan had been done the way that I’d asked I would have been able to see this (it was pre-cropped almost right to the frame line and resized to UHD), you can try stabilising either scan.

Oh!! I didn’t realize it was a printing error. That sucks. If you want to send me the UHD for reel 4, I have an idea to try and stabilize it. Might not work, but worth a shot.

It’s almost impossible to stabilize it, because there’s nothing to track. The edges of the frame are very dark most times, other things in the picture can just be used as long as the camera’s not moving and the outlines of the perfs from the negative, which can hardly be seen next to the print-perfs, are so small that Resolve/Fusion loses track instantly - I already tried that. That’s where I gave up on it. 😉

Can you give me a small part? I have some limited deshake-methods.

I have TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 7 and it has a Stabilizer filter. I’ve tried it on some footage and seen great results. Please provide me with a clip or a number of sequential frames so I can give it a try.

I was going to make an uncensored Make Mine Music myself. For most of the film, I have the DVD. For censored parts in “all the cats joins in” there’s laserdisc rip (at this segment it doesn’t have any subtitles). But, one thing is missing: I can’t get “the martins and the coys” in quality as good as the DVD. If someone can get me that, then the project can go on!

I have a 1080p uncut and uncensored version of Make Mine Music. I used an Australian HD TV rip that went viral some time ago, that includes “The Martins and the Coys,” and the side breast from “All the Cats Join in.” I spliced them in with the official Blu-Ray. Would you like it? How can I send it to you?
