A few thoughts after watching JEDI NO MORE

I just wanna say up front: I appreciate any edit that really tries to push itself in terms of new ideas and restructuring of the movie.

One of the main things that intrigued me about this edit was the restructuring. I had heard the idea of putting Geonosis at the beginning of the movie before but didn’t know if there was a edit out there that was successful at achieving it.
Was the edit successful in doing so?
I think it’ll work for some. Sadly, it didn’t for me. I guess I would say there’s not enough connective tissue from scene to scene to make the build up work. Maybe I just know the material so well I can’t separate it…I don’t know…
However, Obi-Wans intro scene is him talking to R4 about the unusual concentration of trade federation ships there are. Anakin and Padmes first scene is their little “columns of steam” talk as they fly down to Geonosis. These are not strong introductions for our main characters. For me, that just doesn’t work.

With all of that being said, there were things I did like. Including but not limited to:

-repurposing shots of the geonosians to now spy on Obi-Wan.
-new dialogue for Obi-Wan message to the Jedi
-Anakin saves Padme in the droid factory instead of R2
-altered dialogue for certain scenes such as the Obi/Mace/Yoda walking down the overtly CGI Jedi hallways scene (lipsync isn’t quite there but still fun)
-I like Anakin at the senate hearing
-I like the additional senate scene with Jar Jar using footage from TPM, AOTC+deleted scene
-analysis droid deleted scene on Kamino with new dialogue
-Anakin becomes a Jedi Knight

I know a lot of thought and work went into this edit. It shows. I appreciate that.
And maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t care for the restructured bits.
Everyone else should check it out!

JEDDIT: i like some of these ideas i may just borrow one or two of them. 😉

Bring me one as I meant pm me a link as I will see to it. I know that I was sorry, about having to ask about a hollow strength rots which had a good thing about it and this one will be even more better.

I really like your ideas and concepts. Unfortunately, I just don’t think the AOTC footage will ever have enough to work with. By starting with Geonosis there are a lot of things that don’t line up.

I like the transitions in the arena fight that cut out Yoda and the clones, but they’re too jarring. They don’t fit with the idea that the Republic doesn’t have an army, unless those are supposed to be Jedi landing craft. Having Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme about to be publicly executed by monsters, with a massive Jedi rescue operation and direct combat between the Jedi and Separatist droid armies, means that there is absolutely no reason for Padme or whoever else to argue against war. War already started. They would know for certainty with no ambiguity that it’s Dooku trying to kill Padme because Obi-Wan has literally already overheard Dooku promising to kill her to Nute Gunray.
It’s also really jarring to go through that entire Geonosis sequence and then have no recovery or debriefing afterward. No one talks about what they just went through or the consequences. It’s like it never happened. You can compare it to the opening sequence of ROTS and the stuff on Coruscant immediately afterward.

The main advantage of staring with Anakin and Padme already together is to cut out some of the worst parts of AOTC, their romance scenes and the forbidden love subplot. I thought that was where it was going at the beginning and I would have liked Padme to just say “I love you” and leave it at that. It’s confusing to start there and then have them go through the “dating” process out of order.

Thanks for the reply, I agree with a lot of what you said.
For example the point about the rough transition between the arena and all the coruscant stuff that happens immediately after that. I have been thinking about adding a scene like this in between: https://youtu.be/a9MtRYmqkRc

Obviously with some different dialogue about the arena battle, but I don’t really see myself returning to this project any time soon, because I’ve got a lot going in n at the moment.

About the whole Anakin/Padme stuff and the republic not having an army/trying to negotiate with the separatists, I’m afraid that I didn’t manage to get my ideas across. The Gunships in the beginning are supposed to belong to the jedi.(I cut out most of the clones, however there are still some in the background)
I see that the Republic is still pushing for a diplomatic solution after Geonosis seems stupid, but it’s the only thing I can do with the footage. I’m reading it as the republic desperately trying to settle a diplomatic spoliation as there is no other way for them left, while the separatist happily negotiate with the republic while completing their army. That is also the reason why the Jedi don’t openly blame Dooku for the assassination attempts. Not because they are not convinced that it’s him who is responsible, but because they have to have to be damn sure of the consequences if they publicly blame the separatist, that’s why they spent so much energy on the investigation.

However I see that this is a stretch. Maybe I’d have to drop the last beat in the arena sequence where the gunships arrive and have them show up simultaneously with the Jedi, this might level out the power imbalance between the Republic and the separatist, because we wouldn’t get to see most of the Jedi being decimated.

Now to Anakin/Padme: My main problem with their romance as it is portrayed in the original is that it feels so forced that they fall for each other, so I skipped all the questions whether they love each other or not (because nobody thinks the do) and build up the forbidden nature of their relationship to be the single conflict that their subplot is about. Sort of like Moulin Rouge, the plot is not about them falling in love, but rather what challenges their love can endure.

I was wanting to have a new link for both the radical edit revenge of the Sith 720p HD with order 66 flashbacks from Kenobi live action show and the Jedi no more attack of the clones edition since it didn’t work for me.
