We never got the Faces covers in the UK which is a pity because they are the most striking ones on any official Star Wars release.

Consequently, they are my fave DJ transfer menu's by far.

I cannot wait to see them on the big screen and also get my first taste of a Faces set on DVD.

This is your straight LD transfer, right? No filtering or anything? Looks like a great project,

Really looking forward to getting a copy of this set, too! You do good work, DJ.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

As with all the DJ based releases, it is a straight transfer...............

The edits and filtering/clean-up releases are all fantastic but we do need the Laserdiscs preserving in their original form which is just what DJ does.

Couldn't agree with you more. I have a LD player and the 'Faces' discs, but I don't keep the player hooked up regularly - this is nice for people to see the last officially released theatrical version of the the OOT.

That is why in my book they are the best ones, and that is why I asked him to do the Japanese Special Collection transfer. Can wait to check a the Face transfer!

I for one would love to see all the different sets preserved this way.

thank you guys, for ALL the kind words, now i have ALL my SW sets captured and encoded to dvd,so this will more than likely be my FINAL SW release LOL,i really dont think there is any more any way, sw trilogy"pan & scan","definitive collection","faces",1997 "special edition" and segaflips japanese "special collection" hell i think that about covers them all.
well i just finished Charles Bronsons "The White Buffalo"(not released on dvd yet,but hopefully sometime soon)and now i am off to start a joint venture with my friend Rikter, another Dark/Svn release, dont ask what it is,he(Rikter) will tell you when it is ready, hopefully soon.
DJ

and thank you Russ, for adding to the Dark Jedi page in my sig.

Cool.

i like these because they are just simple, like the Faces set. Any one want to make The Making of Star Wars and From Star Wars to Jedi which were also released in the faces style?

Now I can use the Faces covers I made a few years ago. I made the logos for the spines based on the novelizations that were released at the same time.

Oh man, I can't wait to have this set in my collection. Once I have this one and the Special Collection to go along with DJ's other three, well, then that will truly be a gift pack to remember!

I've always loved the faces transfer, as they're the ones I've been watching for the last ten years or so. I still own two copies on VHS (one unopened). The only thing I'll miss is the commercial for it. Ah well!

Great job, DJ, and I look forward to having this in my grubby little hands!

The only time I have ever heard about the Faces set being used for a DVD release was on the Quality Broth set. Can anyone confirm this.

Without even seeing the DJ version, it will be the clear winner in terms of quality............

Be that as it may, that's kind of missing the point. This set represents one of the only (if not only) direct preservations of the 'Faces' set - which was the last time the 'unaltered' (I use that term loosely) original films were released officially.

"Uh, why's everyone gushing over the Faces LDs? are they really that special?"

that is NOT the point, the point is,i have them and that was the ONLY set i did not do yet, well now i did, whether or not any one wants them or gets them,is another story,i will be sending some out to see if there is any interest,if not that is fine with me,but at least i have ALL my SW ld's capped now,ALL my capture projects originally started out just for myself, but my man Rikter convinced me otherwise, now i am glad i am releasing them, because it is nice to see other people like them as much as me,so what if they are simple, its the movie that counts anyway.
and as far as better or worse,i personally like the "Definitive Collection"and 1997 "Special Edition" the best, but i have not actually burned this set to a dvd'r yet,but i will today.

The transfer for the original SW on the Faces is supposed to be superior to the Def. Collection. Empire and Jedi are supposed to be the same, or if different, a little better on the Def. Collection. Just what I've heard.

DJ, what a great idea...even though I have Dr. M's Moth3r transfer of this, i'd still be interested in this set because I actually own the LDs of them!
However, do you have any plans to release a P&S capture from this set as well? I'd be interested very much in seeing that alongside it just like the ones you did with your original DJ transfer of the Definitive one.

Of course it would have to be a VHS transfer

Release Format: VHS

Release Date: 1995

Studio: Fox Video

Technical Comments: New THX-Certified 1.33:1 pan and scan or 2.35:1 letterboxed transfers with HiFi Stereo Surround sound

Comments: Pan & Scan versions available separately or in a box set. Letterboxed version available only in "The Widescreen Edition" slipcase box set.

since thats what it's on, but still thats not the worst since it's just a P&S version anyway.

Do you have plans to do such a transfer as well?

i would do it if i had that set,but i dont,i would have been cool though,i just did my first vhs to dvd transfer today, and i like how it turned out.
DJ

Hoichi are ALL the "FACES" VHS tapes fullscreen and if not how can you tell from looking at the set, if it is full or not?i see ebay has alot of these tapes for cheap, but none say if it is full or wide.
