The Imperial March is played subtly for a split second and you miss when Yoda tells Obi-Wan he fears grave danger in Anakin being training.

When is this? The ending of Episode I?

I’m not sure if this is an actual thing, but in ROTS when the faceplate is lowered onto Anakin’s face, he seems to say, “Padme help me.”

I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

Easy to miss this one: There’s actually two different Luke Skywalkers in the OT, one slightly taller than the other.

Tonight I finally noticed something that answers a question that’s bugged me literally EVERY time I’ve watched ESB until now. After Luke flies out the window I’ve constantly asked myself “how did he get his lightsaber back??” when he confronts Vader again. Well I finally got the answer. The lightsaber landed just a few feet away from where Luke pulls himself onto the platform. Never realized this until now.

Huh. That is a pretty cool spot. Is that an image from the 2019 version?

I believe so. Granted I screen capped this from a YouTube video.

Even if that image is from a more recent edition, the lightsaber’s been there since opening day in 1980.

I even went back to two VHS versions and even though the bulk of the lightsaber was cropped out I could make out a bit of the gripped area of the handle in the bottom corner so yes I know this wasn’t something added later

I was just thinking from a brightness point of view to make it easier to see. The 2019 version seems the brightest, and should be the clearer than the previous dvd and blu ray releases? I’d never noticed it before at all, and if I had I probably wouldn’t have guessed it was a lightsaber or anything important 😃

In this shot:

I never noticed the droid at the console on the bottom left before. It’s hard to make out the details of it, but it sort of looks like EV-9D9 from Jabba’s palace. It might be sort of a precursor to the K-2SO droids.

But we can’t turn back. Fear is their greatest defense. I doubt if the actual security there is any greater than it was on Aquilae or Sullust. And what there is is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault.

Huh, never noticed that droid before. Very cool. Is that ROTJ? Seems there were a lot of cool and hard to spot imperial droids in the background of that film.

Jedit:
No, that’s ESB isn’t it? Even cooler!

This is from RotJ. Yeah, it’s really interesting. I’ve never seen that droid in visual dictionaries or anything.

3PO’s “Shutting up, sir.” line in ANH, I had never noticed it before my May 4th viewing yesterday.

I’m not really that much of a movie purist. I really should’ve thought my name out a bit more.

WTF??? This is the most mind-blowing thing in this whole thread.

I watched the 2006 GOUT version of Return Of The Jedi yesterday and noticed something I never caught after decades of viewing this film …not a visual thing , but an audio one …at the start of the scene where Threepio tells his story in the Ewok village , a few notes of the Imperial March are played on Ewok Drums . Who’s side were they really on ? Their stomachs apparently .

I don’t think it’s supposed to be “live music”, it’s just part of the score to set the scene.

Perhaps , but while they don’t show Ewoks playing it on screen , the sound is definitely that of tribal drums playing a few notes of the march .

I didn’t notice this until I saw the Despecialized Edition, but that part when the Tusken Raider raises his weapon in the air, the film reverses briefly. (Did I mention that already?)

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

This video breaks down the entire Battle of Yavin sequence in the best way possible.

I totally now understand why the Prequel or Sequel, or even ESB and ROTJ didn’t have much of an effect on the space battles than it did on A New Hope. The scene was shot and edited so cleverly, from the juxtaposition of militaristic lingo and terminology from Red Leader to the freeflowing soundtrack, and the brilliant use of sound design (like how the soundtrack completely mutes itself when the TIE fighters arrive, adding tension without the need for a score and only using the sharp distressing sounds of it’s engines) and the thematic aspects (as the title suggests, that the targeting computer was never going to work, which is still in line with one of the many themes in the story: technology can not overpower the Force) all lining to create such a brilliant scene that makes such a lasting memory to the audience.

Now that I think about it, all the space battles thereafter it (like the Battle of Hoth, DS II spacefight, prequel and sequel fights) were more flashy and couldn’t capture the same the thematic importance as the first movie. Even the pilot’s lingo was more loose just to sound superficially cool to the audience.

At the same time, it’s by far the most important battle in the context of their stories, so it’s no wonder it’s the most effective. It’s the only SW movie where a space battle is the only climax, and where the main character is. Qui-Gon is the main character of TPM and he’s not in the space battle. The space battle in AOTC is not the climax. The space battle in ROTS is not the climax. The Battle of Hoth is not the climax of TESB. Luke is not in the space battle of ROTJ. Rey and Finn aren’t in the space battle in TFA. The space battle is not the climax of TLJ. And, finally, Rey isn’t in the space battle in TROS. So the Battle of Yavin is unique in that regard.

But it’s also the best for other reasons you mentioned above. I’m just saying, none of the others were designed to be this impactful.
