Godzilla Movies Revisited (WIP) (on hold)

So, you know Adywan’s Star Wars Revisited edits?

Think those, but instead of doing 3 Star Wars movies, it’s 5 Godzilla movies.

I haven’t started work yet (my laptop got fried during my last render due to a drink spill), so don’t expect any clips for a while.

I’ve got a tentative change list for each of the movies I’m doing, some movies will have more extensive changes, while others will have minor touch-ups. Each movie will get a new sound mix and a fitting new color grade.

Change List:

Godzilla Raids Again:
Godzilla reverted to 1954 design
Anguirus redesign, incorporating elements of original design and Final Wars design.
All monster fights redone to omit undercranked effect and evoke more visceral feeling.
New Osaka castle crumbling scene
New planes

Mothra vs. Godzilla
Mothra larva eyes recolored blue
Frontier missile scene restored (present in US version called Godzilla vs. The Thing)
Minor touchup work

Godzilla vs. Monster Zero
New space mattes
New rocket design
Rodan reverted to 1956 design
All beams redone

Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster
New score
All Kong-like Godzilla scenes removed
Volleyball scene removed
Monster fights redone to where Mothra actually participates in final battle
New Ebirah roars

Destroy All Monsters
Story cleanup
Baragon actually does attack Paris
Manda attacking London addad
Minilla either removed or reduced
New “Fire Dragon” design
minor touchup

UPDATE 5/17/22: I’m going to have to put this project on a temporary pause, as I need to build up my VFX skills for something like this. I should be restarting this project later this year at the earliest.

I’m not really that much of a movie purist. I really should’ve thought my name out a bit more.

I’m not the most experienced CG artist, so I may wind up needing some help on the redone monsters department. I am good with beams, new mattes, new sound mixes and new color grades.

You can only go so far when you’re using Blender self taught.

CGI monsters will feel out of place. My suggestion is to just fix jerky miniature motion, mattes and eventually do motion interpolation to smooth out movements.

I suggest trying to use monster sequences from the 1970/80’s Godzilla movies. Effects are a bit better and camera styles should be somewhat compatible.

That might work.

Godzilla Raids Again could definitely benefit from the motion interpolation. The undercranked effect really toasts my Pop-Tarts.

horribly, half of the stuff is still in the conceptual phase, and the other half, I’m still figuring out how to do.

I’m experimenting with recomping using Runway ML’s AI green screen tool.
It looks pretty good so far.
