The NumeralJoker/MechaSalesman 4K HDR Edits Megathread, Clips Previews, and Release Info — Page 7

Have you ever thought about doing just an extended edit of Revenge of the Sith and its deleted scenes without adding in the Clone Wars material? I think that would be a popular edit too, mainly for people who would want a consistent live-action look throughout the edit.

I prefer to try and avoid the chaos and confusion that gets caused by hosting multiple versions (aside from resolution) of the same film, especially since so many other editors have already tackled the material of just restoring deleted scenes back into Episode III alone. Having said that, it seems no one else has done pure “Extended” cuts like I have for Episodes I and II without any removals of other material, so maybe at some point. We’ll see.

adigitalman did edits of 1, 2 & 3 that are the core movies with the deleted scenes added back in and nothing deleted.

I just want to reiterate that I’ve sent DM links to those requesting them.

Also, my edit of Book of Boba Fett is well on the way and will be referred to as “The Hardcover Edition”.

I’m working on the teaser and promo materials right now for it.

Release date isn’t set though, it will take at least a few days to render and complete.

Hi 😉
Are all the google drive links still working? ☺️ For some reason they don’t open for me anymore 😔

Some drive links get overloaded due to demand and stop their download quota for about 24 hours, and others don’t necessarily work with streaming, but last I’ve checked everything should still be working for downloading where there’s no quota limit.

Introducing…

THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT - THE HARDCOVER EDITION

New Project Title:
https://imgur.com/Wi7zw07

I’ve started releasing clips from Hardcover Edition Supercut, which has now begun rendering after slowly prepping it behind the scenes for the past few weeks. Here are just a few small samples. A Trailer will be releasing tomorrow too.

Boba Dances with the Tuskens (Also featuring flashback fade out transition between Episodes 2-3):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3bWQERsAAA

Fixed Vespa Chase Scene (Incomplete due to Youtube blocking the full scene):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1xBErkTaB0

Complete Vespa Chase Recut (Requires Instagram login to watch, I think):
https://www.instagram.com/p/CZv1z2oAaOH/

As per usual, I’ll be releasing both 1080p and 4K HDR versions. The credits will be recut and rescored like with the Mando cuts as well. Overall, the final run time is 4 hours, 59 minutes, and 32 seconds, which makes this the longest supercut I’ve ever done. Splitting it into 2 parts would not be unreasonable, and a chronological cut is absolutely a project that can be on the table in the future, but it would need to be fully recut with Mando S1&2 and be treated as a much larger set of films, so this massive Supercut takes first priority. Please don’t give me a bunch of requests to do a chronological cut right now, as I want to wait until we at ‘least’ see how Mando Season 3 wraps its part of the story to ensure there aren’t any other relevant and interesting flashbacks.

So, another set of updates.

Firstly, the Book of Boba Fett Supercut was released if you didn’t already catch that.

The Final Trailer for the preview was here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTCZGiIAgJc

Secondly, I’m updating my 2003 Clone Wars Episode Cuts to a new v2 that tweaks the content just a bit more and resolves a few more smaller timeline inconsistencies that were introduced back even in the EU days. Things like Padawan Anakin getting in the ETA-2 Starfighter too early, the timeline (and context) of Ventress’ recruitment, more consistent voices for characters like Grievous, Kit Fisto, ect. ect. have all been tweaked just a bit.

This doesn’t make the series “canon” but it makes it more “canon friendly” as I’d like to call it. If you break up these episodes and watch them in the correct viewing order alongside the main 2008 series, it all fits together reasonably well now, obvious power scaling issues aside.

Series Intro 4K HDR Preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVhgRe5wl_w
Updated Grievous Voice Preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kq1aPPkIaO8

Again, I’ll be releasing more preview clips in the coming days. The project files are out in both 1080p and 4K HDR this time, and English subtitles have now finally been included with all 4 episodes as well.

I know it’s still being released, but hoping you have plans to do Obi-Wan once the season wraps?

Yeah the only thing that was positive with Obi was the thought that The NumeralJoker/MechaSalesman most likely will make this into a epic story. 😄

Seen and love all your star wars edits.

I’ll have more to announce about Kenobi soon. For now, patience.

Hello again friends, with the success of my previous Mando/Boba Supercuts, the time to get out a timely released 4K HDR (and 1080p) Kenobi cut is upon is. If you’ve seen my previous Mando/Boba edits (or really any of my other work), you’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect here. If not? I’ll break it down for you.

What Content is included in the Kenobi Feature SuperCut?

This is a single edit for all 6 episodes cut into a long form (nearly) 4 hour feature with minimal content cut out. The only content removed from the episodes are, recaps, titles, and about 45 seconds of footage from the 2 Leia chase scene to restructure them both to be faster paced and less distracting. The episodes are bridged with a mix of wipes or hardcuts matching the editing style of the rest of the show where appropriate. The original audio tracks are preserved as they are wherever possible, with the exception of the second Leia chase, the flashback Hayden duel, and Credits, which I have recut into 6 minute versions using both the official Credits theme and an actual recording of John Willians own conducted version of the Kenobi theme. The edits don’t remove any full scenes and there isn’t truly any deleted content for me to restore like my other edits, but they function similarly to the Clone Wars/Rebels/Mando/Boba edits where the goal was to turn the show’s arcs into feature films.

The Entire Project is simply named “Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi - The Feature Supercut”

Why would I watch these? Isn’t it just like watching the Kenobi Episodes on D+?

I never initially intended to make the Mando or Boba edits for that very reason, but in truth they worked surprisingly well, and I feel this is even more true in Kenobi’s case. The goal of these earlier edits was initially experimental, seeing if the shows arcs would work as long form films. After putting them together and showing them to a smaller test audience, we feel that the show works surprisingly well in this format. Keep in mind, I’ve already set a precedent for monstrous 4.5 hour film cuts with the very successful releases of the ROTS cut and Episode IV/Rogue One supercuts, which Kenobi is now also meant to be a sort of narrative bridge between. Lucasfilm themselves just did a 5 hour Kenobi screening (without any edits), so the desire for a true Supercut is now more widely understood. They’re fun to watch at home and very enjoyable for a group of friends. Furthermore, this eliminates the somewhat annoying problem of different chapters being inconsistent lengths and actually helps the pacing of the entire show.

As silly as it seems, watching the show in this format makes me feel less annoyed that some episodes were only 30 minutes. I believe Lucasfilm (and Marvel Studios, for that matter) create a lot of content with movie arcs in mind, and only tends to split them up due to production necessities and marketing needs of their platform. It was pretty obvious during the Clone Wars productions, and despite the stylistic differences between episodic directors, a similar philosophy can be seen here with many of the D+ shows too.

Did you make any major changes to the content?

Yes, there are a few changes laced throughout the cut.

  1. I extended the prologue with a new sequence discussing the clone wars series a bit along with Ahsoka’s impact on Anakin’s arc, it’s less than a minute long, but it uses footage from seasons 5-7 overlaid with the Crystal Crisis conversation about her departure to drive home Anakin and Kenobi’s feelings about the entire affair. I also incorporated some shots of Siege of Mandalore into the Episode III portions of the prologue to better reflect the editing style of my existing ROTS Supercut, since I intend this cut to be a successor (and sequel) to that one.

You can watch the extended promo here: https://www.reddit.com/user/NumeralJoker/comments/vfes8t/extended_prologue_for_the_star_wars_kenobi/

  1. Both of the Leia chase scenes are re-edited to be shorter, punchier and more effective, making them less awkward and distracting. Much like in the BOBF cut, they seemed a bit unfinished during production and this at least partially helps those issue. The second chase needed to be re-scored due to the nature of the edit, so I used an old favorite trick of mine.

You can watch a (near final) version of the chase sequences here: https://www.reddit.com/user/NumeralJoker/comments/vhk38c/ive_recut_the_2_unpopular_leia_chase_scenes_for/

  1. The entire Hayden/Ewan duel from part V has been recut into a single scene, given a new soundtrack, and moved up the timeline to be a single flashback a few minutes later in the film. I’ve also utilized DarthPorg’s superior 4K De-Aging for Hayden, as it is by far the best one currently available. This of course means later scenes without the flashback need to be bridged together appropriately.

You can watch the new cut here, integrated into its new place: https://www.instagram.com/p/CfLS-XqgdML/

(Youtube is currently blocking any footage from the show, so I’ll upload samples/a trailer for the cut at a later date).

  1. An extended/restructured 6 minutes credit sequence with an extended version of the Williams Kenobi Score.

All said and done, the total run-time for the edit is 3 hours, 52 minutes and 50 seconds.

That’s so wizard, Ani. How do I watch these?

If you’re familiar with my other releases, Email Sheevsenate0505@gmail.com (memes are appreciated. I can and do read the messages when they’re not coming in by the hundred) for an automated response to find the links. I can’t post them here directly, of course, but if you notice the number of followers/karma on my profile (no, they’re not Russian twitter droids), you should have a pretty good idea that this isn’t a scam.

Hello,

How could I see all you fantastic work? Is there a link?
Many thanks 😉

Now that they’re out, any plans to incorporate the Tales of the Jedi bits into the films?

Author

Into the films directly, no. But I’ve just recently updated the list of releases to include 2 small cuts for TOTJ’s material. One for Dooku that can be watched between Eps I-II, and one for Ahsoka that leads into the post ROTS time period (can be watched either After Ep III, or after BBS1)

Can someone help me get the Clone Wars film edit to work every time I go on it it says it’s still processing and to check back later (this is day 5 to my knowledge)

I appreciate the work involved in splicing together the episodes into film cuts, it’s well done! I have a few suggestions though. First and most important, the brightness and color are way off. You can see this best in the episode “overlords” where that shining woman on the planet meets anakin…she is so bright that it hurts your eyes and washes out the entire picture. But you can see it throughout the entire project…it’s just much brighter than the x264 files i’ve had for years, and the colors are too saturated. I noticed it within a few minutes of watching and i couldn’t un-see it.

Second, it’s x265. x265 was designed for streaming and to be acceptable quality at very low bit rates. when storage capacity isn’t an issue, x264 is much faster to decode, and higher quality. this means you can use very small media PCs with slower less power consuming processors to watch video, as long as you have the hard disk space. I’ve got a handful of 4tb SSDs now. Why would I care about using a video codec focused on saving space and using processing power to make up for it through compression? You can tell the x265 doesn’t look as good. Pull it up on a large TV and look at the edges between solid objects. With x265 there is noise and blockiness every time. x264 never has that. These releases really should have a x264 edition. And x264 should always be used for archival/master copies beyond the original source.

Third, quality control…there are multiple examples where there is a noticeable drop in detail level, in certain scenes, in certain episodes, as well as the feature film. In the feature film there are many instances of this…where a certain scene will just be straight up blurry and terrible quality, then it goes back to normal quality. It’s not my player, i checked. this is encoded into the files. It’s not super common and only in certain episodes, but still, not something I’d like to bother with, especially when my 7yo yells “DAD, it’s BLURRY again!”. Why go to all the work to make a release like this only to ruin it with spotty quality control? It needs to be 100%.

4th, no lossless audio? maybe a minor point, but if this is supposed to be an archival “forever” copy of Clone Wars, it needs lossless audio. Why not?

Again, awesome work on the editing and this is a MUCH needed product, however, I’d recommend that you re-do the edits from a master source and encode with x264, lossless audio, make sure it’s 100% done, and you’d have a perfect 10/10 release.

Any chances of releasing Episode II extended version without the animated stuff? 😉
