When Paramount finally released this on DVD they buggered up the transfer, slightly incorrect aspect ratio (three kids with squashed heads fly around in an oval bubble) and a couple of scenes in the UK release were added as bonus scenes and weren't put into the movie - see my Explorers VHS/DVD/laserdisc comparison page for more details.

Well I set to and corrected the aspect ratio and re-inserted the scenes ...but I lost the disc somewhere, planning on re-doing it because it's one of my all time favourites, a shame there's cutting room floor scenes that will never be seen again (pause the film when Darren's getting those images zapped into his head and you'll see a still of the 3 kids walking next to each other at school)

I love this flick-- a childhood fave, and from one of my favorite movie years: 1985 (esp. BTTF). I didn't know the DVD was botched. I still have my ol' US VHS. I'd love to have a "proper" version. Were the 1 or 2 deleted scenes on the US DVD on the UK one, too? And do you know what the deal was with the original home video release that said "Home Video Version"? Sometimes, that would be accompanied by "Some Music Rescored" or something (which I assume had to do with music licensing and whatnot).
