TPM has been released in its original theatrical cut on laserdisc in Japan and letterboxed VHS in the US. Though the film's not the greatest, I would be interested in a theatrical version preservation on DVD. I have both the laserdisc and tape, but lack the equipment and software to really make good DVD out of them.
There is the TB Release of TPM which is the theatrical release a DVB recording from European Canal + back in December 2001.
I posted a few screenshots and a video sequence on The "9000" Saga Edit thread.
It is pretty good, not perfect but probably better than any Laserdisc/Asian bootleg out there.
These were done by the same person who also recorded the SE at around the same time. Some rate this set as the best SE out there at the moment.
All of these are in PAL but I am sure that will not bother the editors out there............
