Oh ok. This project was stopped a while back… if I can find the files I"ll send you a lut. How does that sound?

That sounds good. Then maybe I might ask you how to use a lut.

what editing software do you use?
if you can’t figure it out, once I find the lut I’ll apply it myself and send you the film.

On www.thestarwarstrilogy.com there’s directions for applying a lut with Ripbot264 which is one of my go-to encoders. I’ll first try with Ripbot.

As long as it works with .cube luts that should be perfect.

That guy with no name, have you considered replacing “evil” with “Sith”, or changing it to “The evil Sith lord Darth Vader” in the opening crawl?

“Sith” is more of a prequel term. I know it’s mentioned in the ANH deleted scene, but still. It’s only ever used in the prequels. The audience at the time of watching ESB don’t even know what a “Sith” is.

This maybe a conversational opinion, But frankly but the D+ preservations don’t look that good.
You can see the salvaged DNR and added grain as well as faulty rotoscoping.
So no I wont be using that as a source, Also 4K80 is nearly finished.

Not only can these issues be rectified, but it fixes issues with the 2011 versions that can’t. Like the crushed blacks.

This shot of Vader is complete non-sense with the Blu-Ray, and you can’t fix it. You can’t get that back.

Here’s the 2019 version. You can actually see Vader’s mask! It’s a miracle!

The colors of the 2004 master were permanently altered beyond repair. Lots of the colors were so oversaturated or crushed that the original colors aren’t even there anymore. Even the best regrades can’t recover what’s lost.

Yeah, since that post I’ve actually changed my mid. Quite a bit. The 2004 master will remain my primary source. Mostly because the 2019 Blu-ray, even though it’s of higher quality, is just too zoomed in and stretched. But for shots like the one above, I’ll be replacing those will custom-fitted 2019 shots. I’ll post a test soon.
