Oh yeah, and 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' is also one of my faves.

'With A Little Help From My Friends' sounds awesome coming out of Joe Cocker's mouth. I didn't really like the original, though...seems passionless.

I used to prefer that version as well and dislike the original, but now it's grown on me a lot, and I like both versions.

Thing is Ringo just can't sing, so they had to lower the key and make it into a 'Ringo's shit voice' friendly tune. Still, I do like Ringo. He's definitely the coolest living Beatle. His son Zach is now drummer in Oasis, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

apparently Zach is a pretty hot drummer. If I remember correctly there were rumours of him playing with Led Zeppelin on a few occasions as well as some other bands...
MTFBWY. Always.

Yeah, Zach is pretty slick on the drums - definitely a plus having him in the band. As is his Father in my opinion, although apparently he was 'not even the best drummer in the Beatles'.

Ohh, another song I like: Eleanor Rigby... "Ahhh, look at all the lonely people!"
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

It's not that he can't sing, he just has a lower and smaller range than the others. I think his voice has a very good quality that I enjoy listening to. Also, when I sing along, I enjoy when that rare Ringo song comes up, because, being in a lower and smaller range, they're much easier to sing. It's like Pepto Bismol for my voice. ^_^

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

OK, I take it back. Ringo can sing, but within an extremely limited, almost non-existent range. I love the guy though - he was the Oldest Beatle, and still is of course, but he somehow seems much cooler than the other surviving Beatle. It's as if by not trying to stay young and cool, he has remained cool. Can you imagine McCratney with shades an a diamond earring? It would be pathetic. But on Ringo, it's cool. He's also very witty. Nice dry humour, great to listen to him talk.

I think Paul has a more subtle cool factor going on...

Okay, I'm a big Paul fan.

fave beatlez albums: rubber soul, revolver, sgt pepper's, magical mystery tour.

predictable, i know, naming basically everything from their "middle" period. i like their earlier stuff too but the albums just aren't as consistently good from start to finish. not too fond of let it be and the white album.

favorite songs... probably a lot of the obvious ones, as well as these: here there and everywhere, for no one, do you want to know a secret, i've just seen a face, baby's in black, i'll follow the sun.

i also love some of george's solo albums. all things must pass is fairly solid, if you just ignore side 6 (of the triple LP version, i mean). and living in the material world is hardly short of amazing.

not really too familiar with ringo's solo material. i reckon his drumming for the beatles gets underrated, as compared to lennon's songwriting or george's guitar playing. sure ringo wasn't the flashiest drummer ever, but then that wasn't the point. he kept a steady beat, and played tastefully & with restraint. a lot of his drum solos were only about 5 or 10 seconds long, at most: da-dum, da-dum, da-dum-dum-dum, then he'd let the rest of the band get back to their business. that's classy.

i can't help but shudder sometimes whenever i see mccartney on tv, though. he strikes me as a bit crass, his continual fighting with yoko, how intent he is on personally controlling the beatles' song catalogue (which was mainly written by lennon, you know?), "paul mccartney's let it be: the special edition remix," the ludicrous price he charges for concert tickets, etc. he just comes across as really unpleasant and egotistical nowadays.

But he's a vegetarian, and that scores major points in my book! ^_^

Obviously, that's not why he's my favorite Beatle. I just love his songs better than most songs by Lennon or the others.

There's a GREAT drum solo by Ringo at the end of an unnused take from Strawberry Fields Forever, with John in the back saying "craaanberry sauce" (no, not the one heard on the song).

That's the stuff I'm talking about. He's like 'yeah, I'm Paul McCartney bitch, Dayyymm! I was in the mofo Beatles'. And he's dying his hair and even going back on the pact he made with John that all songs would be credited to Lennon/McCartney by changing them to just McCartney. What's the point? I mean, we all know he's a total badass musicaian and songwriter. We all know he wrote Let it Be and loads of other greats. We don't need him to officially tell us. It's just not very cool. In my eyes he is a pensioner wishing he wasn't. Which is fair enough really, but grow old gracefully would ya? Although I've heard that his new album is good.

Hey Gaffer, are you vegetarian?

He didn't change it to just "McCartney". He changed from "Lennon/McCartney" to "McCartney/Lennon". And yes, I agree than Paul does act like a jerk sometimes, but he lives from that musician status he has, so...

I would like to be one but it's hard for me not to eat meat.

Been one for nearly nine months myself, and it's really not as hard as it seems to be. I never feel like I'm missing anything anymore. They have a wide selection of substitutes anyway that range from nearly as good, just as good, and much better than the actual meat product it's based on.

And that's awesome that you are too, YIYF. I had no idea. What's the stigma toward vegetarians over in the UK? Because being one in the southern US isn't a very popular thing.
