Yeah, I always thought that Qui-Gonn was the most useless character in all of Star Wars. Don't get me wrong, he's a good character, but his presence at all really hurts the story. The whole movie is spent developing this relationship between Anakin and Qui-Gonn, a totally useless relationship since he dies, and Anakin never mentions him again. And Obi-Wan seems to resent the little brat being around the whole time and only changes his tune because Qui-Gonn makes him promise.

To be honest, though, I could have handled more Luke/Han interaction in the original trilogy. Besides the first movie, they hardly spend any time together at all. I would like to have seen more arguments between them, their opposite morals getting in the way of a common goal.
