The Hobbit: Duology Edition (WIP)

Hi,

I’m in the process of finishing fan edits of The Hobbit (I know, yet another one) and I need previewers.

My main objective is trying to restructure it back into 2 films as they were originally shot. I know this has already been tried by other fan editors but I’ve always felt that they still have too much excess.

Both of the films have to be compatible and uniform with the theatrical versions of LOTR, which means they need to be evenly paced and be under 3 hours each.

If you are interested in watching Part 1 and give feedback please send me a PM and I’ll send along the link.

For Frodo!

I’d like to see a two-film version be pulled off seamlessly. Where are you breaking things up between them?

Hi Hal,

I’m breaking it off where Peter Jackson intended originally when it was a two parter, which is when Bard’s sillhoute appeared in front of the company leaving their fate in a cliffhanger. And when Gandalf confronts the Necromancer, leaving his fate also as a cliffhanger.

Being seamless is one of my absolute objectives since to me it breaks the immersion when you can feel something’s been tampered with.

I can send you the link for part 1 if you like.

It’s not originally intended, but I like the break in the Ironfoot edit.
There it takes place after the rescue by the eagles (without Carrock scenes).

Both movies are clocking right now somewhere between the 2h57m and 2h59m. So they are similar in length to the theatrical versions of LOTR. I just need a little feedback to make sure the story is tracking nicely.
