Does anyone know about an app on Apple TV that plays .sup subtitles well? Vlc lags and crashes,Infuse doesn’t recognise them and Plex doesn’t play the video unless I turn subtitles off. (I know there are .srt but I prefer the .sup)
Edit: It works after using Mkvtoolnix, just not as external subs

I’m looking for the Dutch subs for the despecialized editions. Either that or a link to the full file. Trying to get my kids into Star Wars the right way, but their English isn’t ready yet.
Thanks

Hi Margi
You could try to install Kodi media player nightly(version 20), see https://kodi.tv/download/tvos (look under development builds) it has the capability to play external .sup files. I don’t know how stable this version of Kodi is and I don’t have an Apple tv.

Sorry CatBus for going offtopic.

No worries. This thread is usually pretty quiet except for link requests. I don’t mind a little technical talk.

Project files have been updated to version 12.3 (codename: “Mind the Gap”), and the first post has been updated. Please PM me for temporary download links until the files are available at some more permanent locations.

Rough summary of changes from 12.2 to 12.3:

  • Added/changed titles-only subtitles to accompany new Mandarin, Indonesian, Malaysian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, and Ukrainian dubs
  • Improved American Spanish subtitles (thanks to CAL0901)
  • Fixed a problem where generating EPIV or 1985 subtitles would add an “Episode IV/A NEW HOPE” subtitle to titles-only subtitles even when the crawl was dubbed
  • Thai font switched to Noto Looped Thai
  • Improved support for hypothetical 24.000fps preservations
  • Included Java binaries updated to OpenJDK 17
  • Most scripts now process images faster if Python’s Pillow module (or compatible) is installed (the render-subs script is the notable exception)
  • Windows utilities are built including the Pillow-SIMD module for improved performance, and also use a custom-compiled PyInstaller bootloader to further reduce antivirus false positives

Sorry for the previous blank post this is my first time here. Do the current project files include the new foreign dubbed audio tracks, or is it just the subtitles? And also could I have a link to the download files?

PM sent. Project Threepio is its own standalone project, but the current method I’m using to distribute it also contains a link to my dub collection. See the file “International Audio Links.txt” at the download link.

By the way, to anyone trying to use Project Threepio’s scripts on a non-Windows platform: I’m sorry. My test machine had been a quirky and ancient Linux box, but now that it’s been upgraded, I can see that most of the cross-platform functions had probably been badly broken for some time.

This will definitely be fixed in the next release, as will many minor bugs squashed during the review.
