V2 is available and addresses much of the feedback I’ve gotten on this edit over the years. PM me for a link as always or find it in the usual places (old links should still work).

Full cutlist with new changes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12dAvtrsxZT66tM_uZ5bRpxFb8Y4e8m5mY6iE7YXKCmE/edit?usp=sharing

That’s good news, Octorox!
Besides addressing feedback, did you use any new sources for V2?

The deleted scenes use the newer AI upscales from Hal’s edit, and there are some other sequences that take from his latest edit as well. Other than that, no.

Hi again Octorox and once again thank you for sharing your PT edits with me. I watched this last night and really enjoyed, very much like your TPM edit I love what you have done by using Hal 9000’s TAS as your main source and elements of L8wrtr’s and trimming (Sanding😁) certain parts down.

I can’t honestly remember the last time I had watched AOTC with my full attention so some changes I may have missed but things I did notice and like we’re by trimming down Anakin and Obi1’s conversation in the elevator their relationship as master and student seem better, was glad to see jar jars lines removed along with Anakin’s akward interaction with Padame’ also makes their relationship a lot better. I was sceptical about the trimming of jango and Obi1’s fight but to be honest I very much liked it along with all the cuts with Anakin and Padame’ by toning things down it makes their relationship and love for each other more believable.

Thank you once again for sharing this edit with me, I honestly really enjoyed and am looking forward to watching your edit of ROTS (Hopefully tonight🤞).

I just watched v2 of your edit. I think it is an improvement over all. However, I’m curious why you decided to reinstate the droid factory action sequence.

My main reason was that rewatching the movie, I felt it was a bit abrupt that Padme and Anakin just sneak in through a side entrance and in the next scene they’re at the table with Dooku. Why not go in through the front door then? What is their plan?

After that, they seem to give up immediately on a diplomatic solution and are captured in like 20 seconds. The fact that Anakin doesn’t break out his saber at this point only makes sense if he’s been disarmed, but we don’t really have anything to imply that without the previous scene of them being cornered and captured by Jango.

I’m not a big fan of the droid factory, but it just felt like there was something missing.

I hadn’t thought of that, but I agree. I was thinking that the droid factory scene, while dumb, provides necessary context to what’s going on on Geonosis. I think your v2 is the quintessential AotC edit. Well done.

I second this.

As much as I welcome most of the changes though, I’m sticking with V1 solely because of the Droid Factory being absent.

I applaud Octorox’ sensibilities as well and his promptness to improve on his own work while open to feedback.

Well done indeed!

The funny thing is I thought I had left a version of the droid factory in V1 until I rewatched the edit. I think taking it out was a very last minute change. I’m going to leave it for now but if I keep getting the same feedback I’m not opposed to looking at it again.

There are good reasons for leaving it in and good reasons for taking it out, and even I don’t know for sure where I stand. For me, the best reason to remove the droid factory sequence is because doing do actually heightens the tension of the following scene where Padme sits down with Dooku. Padme at least appears like she’s going in there with a degree of influence and clout, rather than as someone who is already a hostage. There is at least the pretense of a real negotiation about to take place, and they only realize by the meeting’s end that they are completely screwed.

I’ll add that in the preceding scene Padme says to Anakin something like, “Whatever happens, follow my lead. As a member of the Senate, maybe I can find a diplomatic solution to this.” So the scene where Padme sits down with Dooku does follow logically. Their plan is fairly clear, and I don’t think they believe they are sneaking in the side door.

Why doesn’t Anakin just pull his lightsaber? Well, even though Anakin is naturally very impulsive, perhaps his Jedi instincts have kicked in and are telling him this isn’t the right time and to be patient. After all, he essentially does the equivalent in the droid factory scene when Jango points his blaster at him and Anakin immediately backs down (I’d actually contend this is even more bizarre).

Ohh wow I will admit I was very skeptical about cutting the droid factory until I just viewed and I’d say it works very well.

Awesome work Octorox👍

The new version without the droid factory is available now at the usual places (or by PM).

This edit is damn near perfect. I’m curious, however, what your reasoning was for cutting down the Obi Wan/Jango Fett fight. Parts of it are ridiculous, to be fair, but other parts are okay. It’s a very small thing that doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of the edit. I really am just curious.

I just felt like a prolonged action scene at that moment slowed down the pace of the movie. I had watched a couple edits that cut it down and felt like they had a better flow.

2nd edit was sanded down. This one is great also as it brings events much further and the chosen one has pain, suffering or death to not let people die like how he wasn’t strong enough to save his mother by not failing again which you represented in the 2nd edit in your prequel trilogy. Good work
