I’m slightly annoyed that if rumours are true, they didn’t even approach Taylor Gray and Tiya Sircar to consider them reprising their roles as Ezra and Sabine. I know voice actors may not necessarily be experienced at live action acting but I find it disrespectful to voice actors everywhere that so many people think keeping the original character voices isn’t important.
I would probably have preferred a Rebels sequel series to be animated, as you can be more ambitious and not limited by practical live action constraints (think Ahsoka’s short head tails in The Mandalorian…), but ah well. I might change my tune depending on how good it looks (and I’m very happy it’s being reported that Lars Mikkelsen is returning to play Thrawn. It never could have been anyone else in my book)
Tiya Sircar actually has experience in live action. She’s in the movie 17 Again with Matthew Perry and Zac Efron. It’s really cheesy and lighthearted fun with a great message. I can’t remember her standing out but she also didn’t have much to work with as she wasn’t a major focus. I think she’d do just fine in live action and has grown as an actress since then. I also completely agree. It’s a shame she or Taylor Gray may not have been asked to reprise their roles in live action Star Wars.
Definitely would’ve preferred it as an animated sequel too but it seems like the story will be a bit more mature for the more lighthearted kid friendly tone of Rebels and what Disney usually does with their animated projects.
