I just noticed that in the book, Palpatine’s line “Your master, Luke Skywalker, was saved by his father. The only family you have here is me” is actually “I’ve made this very proposal before. But on that unfortunate day Luke Skywalker had his father to save him. You do not.” And I was thinking, because he says the line “I’ve died before” earlier in the movie, would it be too hard to mix together the rest of the sentence, or something close to it? Because not only do I like this version better, but if we could then it would be possible to remove Rey saying “my parents were strong, they saved me from you” and still have the conversation flow rather naturally. It would go something like:

R: All you want is for me to hate but I won’t. Not even you.
P: I’ve made this proposal before. On that day, Luke Skywalker was saved by his father. The only family you have here… is me.
