1080p to Mpeg-2

so I’m trying to burn some video files, primarily the grindhouse editions. Im not bothered with them being on DVD however if I take my 1080p mp4 file and convert it to a PAL 576p file and then burn it onto a 8gb dvd is anything going to happen. I do own a 4k blu ray player with upscale built in so I assume nothing will go bad but I’m just checking.

You could try using BD Rebuilder which can re-encode BD’s and other HD content to a DVD as BD-9 or BD-5 which many players can play.
If you want actual DVD content, your quality will of course take a hit as you downscale to standard definition.
