your Yanks? *sigh* I just lost alot of respect for you. How can you be fan of the evil empire? I thought you were a Philly fan?
Author
Time
i'm a hardcore yanks fan. my dad took me to see the yank for my first ballgame in the bronx. can't help it. blame it on my dad.

My dad, however, is a HUGE philly fan. i'd be a liar if i said it didn't rub off a little.

If you dad was a Philly fan why'd he take you to a Yankees game? Why did he not take you to see the Phillies?
Author
Time
i don't know. i'll ask him next time i talk to him. i think most of it had to do with i was bugging him to go see a game, so he got tickets to the yanks when we were over there.

the rest is history.

to each their own... Phillies didn't make it, though. so what does that say about the team. not much, obviously. got beat by the braves in the standings. for shame.

still an eagles fan though. but that is for another thread.

It says (to me) Ed Wade and Charlie Manuel need to go.

we are both in agreement on that.

- Philidelphia was foolish in signing Thome like they did. Indians had concerns about his back and his age, and you see what happened? Congratulations, you just blew a LOT of money.
- The Yankees would be nothing more than a 500 team if Steinbrenner didn't have yearly payrolls off $200+ million. The Indians almost beat them or the Red Sox out of the playoffs with a payroll of $45 million.

The Indians will go far next year. This was a wonderful learning experience for all the young players.
The only area of question comes from whether we can keep our bullpen intact. Bob Howry, Scott Sauerbeck and Bob Wickman are all free agents. If Kevin Millwood leaves, he can probably be replaced.

ALDS - Yankees in 5 and Red Sox in 4
NLDS - Houston in 5 and St. Louis in 4

ALCS - Red Sox in 7
NLCS - St. Louis in 5

World Series - Red Sox in 7 (won't be as easy this year)

This is one of the many reasons Ed Wade(The Phillies General Manager) must go. All of Philadelphia wants his butt out of town.

As I recall, Philly booed Santa Claus at an Eagles game once. And the mayor such sounds like an imbecile.
Philly people need to learn to be better judges of character.

HOW DARE YOU THAT INCIDENT THAT HAS STEREOTYPED ALL OF PHILADELPHIA!!!!! The guy was a lousy Santa Claus and was believed to be drunk. The Eagles were having a terrible season and the fans were very angry at Eagle's management. The decision to use such a terrible Santa Claus was too much for Eagle fans and they booed. But Eagle fans are no better nor worse than any other fanbase. Meantioning this incident again would be unwise and could prove lethal.

Yea the mayor is an imbecile, fortunatly, he can not run for reelection.

And don't blame the people of Philadelphia for Ed Wade. Hiring him was the decision the Phillies President David Mortgomery. Alot of people want him gone too. Alot people also want the 6 owners who remain in hiding to sell the team to people who will run it better. I'd have to agree, the owners are cheap bastards who only care about $$$$$ and not winning a World Series. The Phillies have been mismanaged by the imbeciles that run the organization. That is not the fault of the people of Philly and has nothing to do with their ability to judge character.
