Well, there's a difference between Germans and Nazis. The Nazis were a political group that conisisted of a small amount of the German population. Generally speaking SS units tended to be Nazis and were fighting for Hitler, where as Whermacht (regular army) were average Germans fighting for their country.

I agree that there is a difference btw Germans and Nazis, but the Nazis were there. I just don't how you and reenact WWII without them. Sorry if I'm being annoying.

Well, most reenactments are basically the Allies vs. the Axis. The Allies consist of Americans, Brits, etc. The Axis consist of German units, whether they're Wehrmacht, SS or whatever. We do have a few SS units, who wear swastikas as part of their uniform, if that answers your question.

And about Europe being more tolerant, they are tolerant mainly about things such as nudity or anything relating to the human body, as I understand it anyway. I've never lived in Europe, so someone please feel free to speak up if I'm wrong. It's not uncommon to have nudity on basic TV. They're much more strict about violence, etc. It's much more difficult to acquire violent games over in Europe than America.

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

I knew the Swastika had pretty far reaching use before the Nazis adopted it. And it is a shame that they have sullied an image that was around for millennia before them.

The thing that cracks me up about the universal usage of the Swastika is that those four ideals that the "L"s stand for don't translate into other languages as words beginning with L, so the symbolism is seemingly lost.

I'm not entirely positive that the "Mound Builders and Cliff Dwellers of Mexico, Central America" spoke Spanish or some Central American Indian language like Quechua (sp?) or another, but just think in terms of Spanish for the sake of argument...

Love -- Amor

Life -- Vida

Luck -- Suerte

Light -- Luz

Okay, so it works for "light". But then you examine Chinese that doesn't even use the same alphabet. This 4-L translation must be something very modern.

I'd never heard that before reading this thread either. I just knew that the emblem was around for a long time before the Nazis used it.

I'm pretty sure it was the card publisher that came out with the 4-ls.

I need to wear Swatstikas all over my school and tell people what it really stood for before Adolf S Hitler had to corrupt it.

I don't think it'll work.

You can't wear a headband at our school because it promotes, in the words of our principle, "gangsterism."

Just what we need: another cult.

No, but seriously, a head band promotes what? Being a 'gangsta' or worshipin 'gangstas' ??

What if you wan't to wear a headband to distinguish you from your twin?

Everyone busted out laughing when he gave us that speech 3 years ago, I mean, wtf is "gangsterism"?

Not even our principal is that out of touch.

Well... Maybe. I don't know, he has made some pretty groan-inducing announcements.

Actually, he is a pretty cool Principal. Sometimes after an assembly or something he will just let us go home even if its like 2 in the afternoon.

Jerry nags us to no end.

He seems to think that we forget the dresscode, that it is wrong to fight in the halls, and that we aren't allowed to leave before pep rallies every summer and must remind us again at every opportunity.

About the swastica thing: it's not really the swastica. The swastica is turned 45 degrees to the right. That simbol is actually the ancient chinese symbol for the sun. In some budist temples, you'll find it (and the most frequently asked question in a buddist temple refers to the "swastica" on the monks statues).
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

So cock your head 45 degree's and it's a swatstika.

I guarantee that if you wear it into a Synogauge you'll get shot irreguardless.

Just to see if there's a nazi-esque symbol?

Wait... There are Buddhist tempels in Carolina? That's news.

No, because I'm interested in the Buddhist temple.

I dunno, but it seems we always take over a thread after the argument for which it was begun has long been solved.

I also ocansilnally visit a buddist temple nearby and they have these statues with the sun symbol. The monks are always asked about it, and they always slowly reply with a smile on their face that it is not meant to be a reference to nazism. The chinese used this symbol for thousands of years before nazism. In south america, some psuedo-nazi parties used a symbol used for "summing" constant values (don't know how to translate that), and yet you can see that very same symbol today on a MicroSoft Excel spreadsheet (it's the "functions" button).
