I thought you would use a whip sound effect for the dissaperation like this. https://youtu.be/qwvUvx9W8mA.

I was sorta expecting this at the part in chapter 1 when Fry says “A lound echoing crack broke the sleepy silence like a gunshot”. But other than that it’s great

I could’ve used a sound like that, but I ended up using the apparation sound from the films.

First of all thank you so much for all the work! I cannot imagine how long it must’ve took you adding all the music and background noise. As a whole I’m really enjoying this. 😃

That said, I’ve got some (hopefully) mild and constructive criticism: Personally I think that the music at times is too loud and/or too dramatic for some scenes (it gets a bit better in later books, though) and that some background sounds can get a bit repetitive and also too dominant (e.g.: That owl whistle sound, Harry’s training sessions with Snape in Order of the Phoenix).

I have to ask a question to everyone here who has listened to Order of the Phoenix. Someone on Archive notified me that there are times where the recording skips ahead a bit. I did encounter and fix this when working on the flight to the Ministry, but that was it in terms of errors. Does anyone else here know about any other potential errors.

In chapter 19 starting at around 9 up to about 11 minutes I’ve encountered some unpleasant choppy distortion/crackling noise, possibly clipping.

Odd. I’ll have to check and see what the issue is so this won’t be an issue. Thanks for letting me know about it.

Hi! I just made an account here to thank you for your amazing work!! Really, you’re project is WONDERFUL, such an immersive experience, it really brings everything to a whole new level! I’ve reread the books SO many times, but I have to say listening to your edits makes me feel like I’m experiencing this world from a brand new perspective, it’s super cool. I’ve binged the first three books, just starting with GoF now, and I’m already dreading the moment it’ll be over. Once again, thank you a lot for sharing these with us!!

No problem. I really appreciate the feedback. I’ll be starting Half-Blood Prince very soon.

Yea! HBP is my fave book and I can’t wait to see how your enhancements are going to add to the story.

For info on my HP edits, read the first post in the thread on OT.

Thanks, JJ. I’ve heard many people say Half-Blood Prince is their favorite book. I wonder why that is.

For me, it is because of the Voldemort backstory scenes. I love the way his history was told through the Pensieve flashbacks, the introduction of the Horcruxes, and the Astronomy Tower drama.

I know what you mean. I personally loved all the movies, but Half-Blood Prince was not my favorite of them. I don’t nitpick or criticize them at all, as I thought all eight of them were great, but I will admit I wish that they hadn’t omitted as much stuff as they did from the sixth film.

I’ve finished listening to Philosopher’s Stone and am halfway through Chamber of Secrets. This is absolutely amazing! I can’t imagine rereading (listening) the series any other way! You did a great job setting up the mood of each scene and adding various sound effects.

Highlights of PS were the Mirror of Erised and the Man with Two Faces.

So glad to hear you’ve started HBP! Thanks for taking on this massive endeavor and sharing it with all of us!

Hey dude I was just wondering maybe after you’re done making the Harry Potter audiobooks, You think maybe you’d might be able to make some Stephen King audiobooks with sound effects like this? Maybe you can do IT narrated by Steven Weber. It’s up to you.

I don’t know. I’ve thought about trying out some other audiobooks, but I doubt that I’ll tackle projects this big for quite a while. One of the big reasons why I chose Harry Potter specifically is because someone on Reddit recommended the idea to do this, I loved both Stephen Fry and even Jim Dale’s narration in the audiobooks, and I’ve always been a big fan of Harry Potter.

Ok

I did at one point think about doing a small one for The Polar Express if Tom Hanks did one. But there already is one with ambience, sound effects and music that predates Robert Zemeckis’ movie with Liam Neeson as the reader.

I just finished GoF, and dear lord, the music in the background of Dumbledore’s speech about Cedric in the end made the entire scene so much more emotional!! Actually, the entire final chapter really gained a lot from your edition, really, amazing work!

I’ll start Order of the Phoenix right away - which I haven’t reread in a gooood while, and was my least favorite of all, so I’m super curious to have this new experience and see if maybe I’ll enjoy it more now 😃

Thanks very much for those kind words. I’m not going to lie, when I was working on Priori Incantatem, I actually was tearing up when the spirits came out with Patrick Doyle’s music supporting the scene. Even adding in Jeremy Soule’s work from the game as Harry ran to the portkey was emotional for me to listen while I worked on it.

It’s my least favorite of the seven, but still enjoyed it, nonetheless.

How did you do on the scene where Harry lashes out in Dumbledore’s office, dude? 😃

Not much. Just more calm music, because I think Harry’s anger should play out for itself from Dumbledore’s eyes.
