The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released) — Page 566

I was hoping for full ASMR scenes but there were a few greatly appreciated sounds in there I needed.

A little disappointed there wasn’t any isolated Exagol lightning or Porg sounds though.

Indeed. We seriously need some clean Exegol lightning sound effects. WhiplashDynamo used one of them in his fan cut of Josstice League.

Are there any clean versions available? It’s such an awesome sound.

I agree. It gives Exegol that much needed creep factor if we’re dealing with the return of the big baddy of the OT. 😄

What is the thought on doing a quick V1.5 with what we do have while we wait for others?

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Hayden the person? No. But I do hate the idea that Anakin reverts to his younger self upon his death because “that’s when he was good.” Anakin was on the “good side” when he died; that’s the whole point of ROTJ’s ending. He should appear as the version of himself that died saving his son from the Emperor IMO.

So he should appear as Darth Vader.

Maybe you’re just teasing me, but I’ll clarify:
No, because he was no longer Darth Vader at that point. What I should’ve said was “he should appear as the age he was when he saved his son from the Emperor.” He turns back into Anakin before he dies, so to have his ghost be a pre-Vader version of himself “because that’s when he was good” completely misses the mark (IMO).

But I was talking about ROTJ. This discussion has nothing to do with Ascendant, let’s move on.

I imagine the only way to see Shaw in the role here would be for jonh to photoshop a face for him and animate it slightly. It’d be great to see, and I suspect we’ll either see it or not regardless of discussing it here.

That would be cool to see. A far cry from the recently showcased attempts at implanting his face onto that of Tobey Maguire’s, and it would give the climax that extra ‘oomph’, just as an epic final battle should have. And it would fix a long-lasting continuity error created by the 2004 Special Editions. 😃

What I meant was he’d be in the suit, since that’s what he was in when he saved his sun. He should be at the very least scorched grey and bald, not with a full head of hair.

I agree that makes complete sense and would’ve probably preferred it kept that way, but to be honest George never told us that is the “idea” behind why he looked younger in the movies, that’s just fans coming up with a (very logical) explanation.

What if you looked at it through the lens that Anakin’s good side was trapped in his deformed, dying, suited body, which is all a result of him being evil. Now he realizes this and regrets it, so by reverting to his younger self, it shows he’s finally back at peace with himself before he destroyed himself. An older Anakin that’s not deformed doesn’t technically “exist” in this universe, as by the time he was old he’d already gone through the Vader transformation. Just ideas. Again, I still agree with you though.

Good points there. Obviously I don’t think his ghost should appear all burnt and mangled. The Shaw ghost in ROTJ is great. It kinda shows what Anakin could’ve looked like had he been a Jedi all along. Now that version of Anakin never physically existed, but it’s a great way to show that he “died a good man.”
To me, Shaw’s appearance is more ‘metaphorical,’ as that Anakin only existed in spirit, not physically. The young Hayden Anakin existed, and is explicitly a “pre-Vader” version, which doesn’t sit as well with me. But I suppose similar arguments could be made for the Hayden ghost as well (“it’s just a metaphor that he’s good again”), so perhaps my argument isn’t that sound 😂

Although I’d really love to see Shaw in the ‘phantom four’ scene, Hayden Christensen being aged up a bit solves my problem with him being “young pre-Vader Anakin.” He’s just another “what could’ve been” version of old Anakin like Shaw in ROTJ. And that’s quite alright with me.

Edit: And apologies for continuing this discussion again, Hal. I should’ve responded elsewhere 😘

Well, so the focus is trying to find Jonh to get back to work on Luke’s hair. He’s been slacking and needs to do this important work.

I mean, he’s arguably the most literally-a-professional person here…

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Am I making Carrie Fisher’s ghost proud?”
Well, are ya, punk?

Yeah, no, don’t say someone’s “slacking” when they’re not sacrificing time for a fan project they have no obligation to work on. Even if this weren’t a moneyless operation conducted in fans’ free time, you don’t know this person’s life or what factors could be standing in the way of what is, ultimately, not a super essential part of anyone here’s lives.

I’m never totally sure (this being the internet), but based on jarbear’s previous comments and on his general personality, I’m pretty sure he was being sarcastic!

Yeah he makes those comments quite regularly it’s meant to be a joke.

What exactly is wrong with Luke’s haircut as it is right now? Would anybody else be able to fix it? I love this change! Luke’s hair is ridiculous in the theatrical version.

Poppa and JarJar are correct on that, it’s my goofy joke in regards to him. Hope to see him back!

The haircut exists, but there are ‘glitches’ he said he would fix. I think it could be tackled by someone else to fix it up, but I don’t remember if we have all the footage.

I forgot if jonh said he’d be interested in doing aversion with Sebastian Shaw or not. I wish he’d come back around soon. For all we know, he could finish the crackly saber sequences since he’s already done a far grander sequence in this project.

I only remember seeing one hair clip, but it looked great. Maybe we should compile all the haircut footage that we have and see what exactly is wrong with it and if anyone has the ability to fix it. If we get that down then the only major thing would be the crackly saber.
