Hmm... I'm imagining the scene in Trading Places with the real ape snuggling up with the guy in the ape suit in the cage at the train station. King Kong and Chewbacca as primate lovers?

Has anything been decided on what Jackson's next film afterr King Kong is going to be? Will it be The Hobbit or The Lovely Bones?

I've heard his company would be working on a live action version of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" - which would be horrible - but I don't think he's involved. I'd like him to return to his gory times, and shoot "Brain Dead 2", or something like it.

Live action NGE? Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose? That's supposed to be one of the most powerful anime/manga titles out there. Giving it a live action treatment would destroy it.

That's what I've always said. Turning "Evangelion" into a live action movie would destroy it's original concept and porpouse, and would kill GAINAX's masterpiece. Some animes could get a live action version, such as Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Yamato, as long as they remain close to the original.

I don't think any animes should get live action. Some may work, I suppose. But not the futuristic ones. Stuff like Gunsmith Cats would be cool. But that's just because it's a modern day bounty hunter tale that takes place in Chicago starring two girls who look good with guns and grenades.

i think that with today's technology, you could make good anime into live action.

It's not so much a problem with technology as it is a problem with transforming the outrageous facial expressions and the way that anime shows motion (streak lines). I know tech can show streak lines and whatnot, but it's awkward looking with live people in it. I just dunno...

no no, but it was inspired by DBZ and neon genesis, and many other anime/manga.

But I wonder how successful it would have been had it actually started as anime.

I seriously doubt Matrix has any Neon Genesis Evangelion reference on it. To me, it feels like "Bastard!!" meets "Zillion" meets "Tank Police" meets "Ghost in the Shell" meets "Serial Experiments Lain" (most of the matrix concept comes from Lain)

It was mainly Ghost in the Shell and Serial Experiments Lain, they had a few elements of Akira on it too, and the brothers were big fans of Cowboy Bebop (they invited the artist who did it, cant recall the name now, to do an animatrix movie, he did the "detective story" one)

Uh yes I supposed that was his name. Only name I remember from the Cowboy Bebop crew was Yoko Kanno's, which contributed to the excelent soundtrack, and made me start loving jazz.
