NES games that you haven't beat — Page 2

Battletoads. Or, as I like to call it, the reason why I swear too much.

Kung-Fu. That game was amazing, but when more than 2 guys were on screen throwing knives at me, I could never get the timing right and I choked.

As far as Duck Hunt, my old man got up to about Level 40 once, and that's as high as I ever saw.

Jay, have you played Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox? That is one serious game - and it has that 'old school' vibe to it. The levels are well designed, the bosses are beyond tough, but if you stick it out it rewards you with amazing depth and fluid controls. Reminds me a lot of the NES days.

There was also a lot of bad games based on movies & comics then too...

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've *EVER* beaten an NES game. The closest I've come is getting to World 8-4 in Super Mario Brothers.

I did beat Mario Brothers III on the GBA, but that version is *MUCH* easier than the NES version. Heck, I never even beat Mario 64 without help until the DS version... Lame am I.

i bought an old NES and SNES console on ebay a while ago. I'm lending it to this guy right now though. I only had mario, zelda, and festers quest for that system. For SNES I had the mario all-star, super star wars, super return of the jedi, zelda a link to the past, and some other games i cant remember. Awesome times!

Sadly I am in Chaltab's 'Crap at NES' club. I think I got to the last level of Mario 1 but it kept looping and I could never find my way to the end. I got the rocket to take off on Tetris though. Does that count?

War does not make one great.

I thought Robocop was very difficult for the NES, I never completed it or even passed the 4th level of it. Another game I really enjoyed that I never finished was McDonaldLand, one of my all time favorite Platformers.

I never got to finish Mario 1 or Mario 2, cos of the no save feature on the NES

BTW, I must say the SNES All-Stars version Super Mario Bros. 3 was very disappointing, I hated the very bright graphics and the original cool sound effects replaced with the Super Mario World's effects.

Hm. I never knew they changed the Sound FX. *brain wrinkle*

Well, anyway, I'll have a chance to try all those old NES games again with the Revolution virtual console system.

I think the only two NES games I've ever beaten were Zelda, Mario 2 (with and without warps), and Mario 3 (with and without warps).

Games I wished I would have beaten:

- Zelda II - I felt such an accomplishment just getting to the White Castle or whatever it was called. Evil Link kicked my ass though. Was Gannon the last boss here also?

- First Mario - Got to Bowser once just as time ran out and lost my last life. Gave it up LOL

- Battletoads

- TMNT

- Ghostbusters (I'm with Ricarlette, never got to the rooftop)

- Ironsword - Wizards & Warriors II - Loved this game!!! It's the one with Fabio on the cover LOL. Came so close to beating the last guy. I remember one of my favorite bosses was this blob that split into smaller blobs when you hit it.

I'm great at duck hunt but never had the patience to play that long.

I never could beat Castlevania 3. I forget how far I got now, but I remember trying and trying on that one. I beat the first two, but couldn't past 3. I also never could beat Tyson in Punchout.

I know this is Off Topic a bit, but has anyone ever beaten Super Metroid on SNES? Barring the now dated graphics, I still say that is the best non-spoken drama and best ending in a video game.

Yeah, Super Metroid was awesome. Just beat that recently. Wasn't too difficult. Not as difficult as the original Metroid (you're forced to draw your own maps so you don't get lost!)

Yeah, that's another one I haven't beaten. I own it, but I've never gotten very far.

I didn't have an original NES until 1998. I had it for about a year before I bought the Pod Racer edition N64. During that time I didn't beat ANY of the games I got with it except for Tecmo Super Bowl...the best football game on that system. Took the Packers to the Super Bowl twice with perfect records.

Anyways, I have a number of coughromscough on the PC, and I've beaten most of them. All 6 Mega Mans. 3 Marios. Kirby's Adventure. Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers.
I've only beat them, though, because I had the ability to save-state with them.

I haven't beat Ninja Gaiden, but then for some reason I'm not to fond of the game.

This one is the best Metroid game in my opinion. I beat it many times.

I actually hated Metroid 2. It's just so boring and so slow and that noise when your energy is low?...GAH! ANNOYING!

But the NES and SNES versions are classics!

Not really. If you dedicate yourself and draw maps, it's really not all THAT hard....

I've never played Metroid II, but your post reminds me of how annoying the low life energy sound on the Zelda games are. I mean, I know I'm about to die! I don't need a stinking repetitive beep telling me that! If anybody on the Twilight Princess R&D is reading this (fat chance), please make the Zelda beep an optional gameplay device from now on! Pleaseeeeeee!

My cousin once told me she got up to round 94 or so on Duck Hunt. She had the gun right up against the screen so I guess it wasn't really that hard. She didn't lose though, her mom turned it off and told her to go outside before she turned into a zombie. I guess that means it's possible to get up to round 99. Who knows what happens after that.

I never beat Mega Man 1 until about a year ago. That is by far the hardest Mega Man game. I only beat it because of the pause glitch that makes some of the weapons apply more damage.

Come to think of it, I never beat Who Framed Roger Rabbit or Bart vs. the Space Mutants either. Those games I hardly ever played though.
