part of the reason why they are pushing HD media is because of the deadline forced on TV networks I think. The Us government has set a deadline for when all stations need to be totally digital. I forget when this has to happen, but I think that may be the reason.

Wait... that makes absolutely no logical sense... it must be just to make another buck.
