MagnoliaFan, were you ever able to get a direct digital copy from the video game of Dooku's lines or did you have to hook it up and capture it?

I haven't been able to rip it from the game, which means a degradation of quality.

Are these lines still online somewhere? I'd love to watch this little cut sequence.

And what are Magnoliafan's contingency plans?

I have all of those video game scenes on my computer back home from when they were leaked back before the game came out. But from what I remember, the audio on them was SO low.

As for what the contingency plans, see 2-5 above are. Any of them can be done pretty easily.
I was bored and dropped Qui-Gon into ESB and Jedi, just an experiment to see what it would be like (not really for the OT edits or anything, just boredom and to see if it could be done). Putting him back in some small way into Ep 3 is easy enough.

And so far, I just had the Dooku stuff downloaded from the net, though I know they have Xbox ripping software out there. I haven't worried about it too much yet. Nov 2nd may be a different story.

Another thing I noticed is that if you watch 1-3 as a stand alone trilogy, it works better to have no Vader and kill Anakin. The birth of Vader just feels tacked on... It's a loose end... Like a big TO BE CONTINUED slapped on the credits. After doing all the horrible things Anakin did, he deserves to die... even if only to stay dead for a film and a half.
Plus, my new "scene that explains it all" in Jedi, has brought chills to the few who have had the fortune to see it in rough form.

Everything sounds great, MagnoliaFan. While I don't necessarily agree with all your decisions, I agree 100% about Vader at the end of Ep 3. It'd be cooler if the first time we see him is when he steps through the door at the beginning of Ep 4.

I always thought it would have worked much better if the audience thought Annakin was dead right up until the ESB revelation. Obi Wan's explanation that Darth Vader Murdered Luke's Father would just be taken as Obi Wan not wanting to tell Luke that his Dad was a prick and ObiWan killed his ass.

War does not make one great.

MF: I can't wait to see your complete Star Wars saga. Your OT edits are of great interest to me as it's an area where most people on this site won't dare go. I too believe the OT and Saga as a whole can benefit from changes to Episodes 4, 5, and 6.

Heh ... my rule is to do whatever I want to the SE but my love is still for the O-OT as-is. I live by the double-standard that the O-OT is sacred but the theatrical/official DVD editions of the Prequels should only be shown in prisons.

I watched Batman Begins tonight and made a list of usable quotes. I may reassemble a couple of them for the restored Qui-Gon. I'm looking for a quote now, but I think it was in the video game. Being that I'm not a gamer, does anybody have this? I'm keenly interested in getting these two lines, which weren't in the film according to my notes:
"If you run you will be discovered easily; stealth is your greatest ally."
"Ninjitsu will make you invisible and immortal in the minds of your enemies."

The first one can be reworked into something quite useful I think.

I poured through Love Actually's deleted scenes with Liam and rolled snakeeyes.

I really want to find one good quote of him urging "Run!" without any other words to clutter the rhythm. Any ideas?

I've managed to cobble together a few good lines so far. I've been able to create several decent-sounding lines from frankensteining together bits from Batman Begins and TPM. I'm thinking of how to craft a conversation with Yoda using existing dialogue.

I still want Liam saying "Run, Yoda. Run." I'll settle for "Run." This would be the first we hear of his voice.

As Yoda watches the cloak fall, we hear

Qui-Gon: "Run, Yoda, Run. Run, or you will be discovered."

(later, as Yoda is crawling through the crawlspace, we hear his thoughts as he talks with Qui Gon.)
[from this point forward, I've assembled Qui-Gon's dialogue. I have his lines all ready to go.]

Qui-Gon: "Do you feel responsible? Finding him was the will of the Force. I have no doubt of that."

Yoda: "Failed I have."

Qui-Gon: Sith Lords will not share your compassion. If you let it, it will destroy you, as it almost did me."

pause

Qui-Gon: "My master, you must journey -- for your own sake."

Yoda: Into exile I must go.

"You must, my Master. There is no turning back. May the Force Be With You."

Then clip those lines when he's rescued by Bail. They fly off silently instead..

Hadn't seen this thread before, so just read the whole thing. Farsight, you're on the right track - please do your edit.

ADM: Nice to see someone is already hard at work on this, and I like the general concept of the scene. However, as I'm sure you realize, some of it seems a little TOO cut-and-paste. That's the big challenge for anyone attempting this though. My favorite part would be, "Do you feel responsible? Finding him was the will of the Force. I have no doubt of that." I've always thought we needed some sort of reaction or admission of responsibility from Qui-Gon in regards to Anakin. That isn't what you've done but with a bit more editing the lines you've found could work nicely. I really can't judge this until seeing it, but you're certainly headed in the right direction.

This reminds me of the time I watched Bridge on the River Kwai to see if Alec Guiness said the words 'Kwai' and 'gone' to see if I could fix (for fun) a scene in a certain movie that has six in the title.

Oh, and if anyone is doing any thing with them subtitles from that wacky chinese bootleg, is there any way that one could be made without the swears in it? Maybe it's just me, but I don't like 'em. Certianly not in a Star Wars movie.

Maybe one could use actual Chinese swear words - make it kinda like Serenity?

Why Anakin really turned to the dark side:
"Anakin, You're father I am" - Yoda
"No. No. That's not true! That's impossible!" - Anakin

Is there anything out of that Episode 1 Tone Poem you could use?

I've realized there is an important reason NOT to include the Shaak Ti scene in Ep III restorations: She's seen later on in the movie as still being alive. According to the SW Databank:

"When this sequence was cut from the edit of Episode III, Shaak Ti's life was spared. She can still be seen in Episode III, as a tiny tabletop hologram on Kashyyyk, when Yoda is remote-conferencing with the Jedi Temple.

"Although her earlier death at Grievous' hands was completed and included on the DVD as a deleted scene, it should not be considered the canon version of her fate. This is because she is still visible later on in the movie as part of the Kashyyyk hologram. The deleted scene on the DVD, "General Grievous Slaughters a Jedi," should instead be considered an interesting look at what might have been."
