STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION — Page 463

I agree that it should be the original arm.

Actually, what does that even mean lol… The original costume arm, not the anh insert shot-rogue one arm

I know Ady has his feelings on this, but man I really think Ponda’s arm should be the one sliced off since it’s canonical and it’s what is shown in the film.

This is just confusing. Their arms are the same in RO as in ANH??? What adywan did was chnage who’s arm got chopped off, to match what happens in the scene. We see Dr Evazan pull a gun to shoot Ben, then Ben cuts at Evazan and Ponda’s arm ends up on the floor with the blaster. So Ady switch the arms to make it so that Evazan’s arm is on the floor, becuase it makes more sence with what we saw happen. It was a mistake born form Geoge Lucas’s inexperiance with fight scene at the time, quite why he never thought to adress it as one of the many chnages he made in his SE I can’t fathom.

Agreed. It’s not like we ever see those two elsewhere in the saga. Even if we did, it would likely just be in comics.

I’d say keep what makes the most sense in the context of the film itself, which is Evazan’s arm with a blaster.

Right! No one is debating what someone’s arm looks like! It’s that the movie showed the wrong dude’s arm getting chopped off. That’s it!

Yeah there’s a canonical story where Dr. Evazan is trying to fix Ponda’s arm with some janky prosthetics.

Besides that… it’s true to the original film.

In the other Ady version it is Ponda Baba’s arm but the one on the ANH costume

I think Ady or 007 (close enough) needs to chime in here, this is getting a bit out of “hand”.

I know this may sound weird but, I had a dream about the Trash Compacter Scene, and I thought I remember seeing a First Person POV of seeing the Dianoga. Basically what I’m suggesting here is, what if there could be an improved dianoga?

Anyway… Happy Birthday to Adywan! 😄

I cannot believe we’re having the Flipper Debate again over a decade later. 😄 Ady removed the flipper arm after coming to the same conclusion the original crew must have, that it just begs the question of how he held a gun in the first place. But instead of following the original crew’s “just throw any arm on the floor”, Adywan made it the good Doctor’s. There’s no reason for him to change that.

There is a reason. It’s canonical and it’s the correct character from the original film.

You may disagree, but don’t say there is “no reason”.

There are a lot of elements to Revisited that are not “canonical”. Ady’s goal is to make a version of the Special Edition he’s happy with, not fix Canon.

Evazan is also the one screaming in pain after Obi-Wan pulls out his lightsaber.

Because he was also sliced, he just wasn’t dismembered. Canonically, Obi-Wan got both of them with his swipes.
I just personally find it odd to go out the way to contradict both the original film and canon, but I’m not the one providing the edit, so of course Adywan can and should do whatever he wants to do.

What?! George has said he doesn’t like human violence. That’s why Obi-Wan didn’t go around cutting down Stormtroopers. I wager he deliberately went with the severed arm that would be the most alien.

I’m helping Adywan update the ways to get Revisited.

Awesome news, Thank you Doubleofive. I have seen some amazing edits of the O/T but haven’t managed to get hold of Adywans revisited edits of Anh and Esb and with rotj being done it will be good to be able to view these😁.

RotJR is not done, nor is the 1080p upscale for ESBR or ANHR rebuild. There’s a lot to look forward to!

I’ve said it time and time gain, canon means NOTHING when doing a fan edit. Why does the “Great Flipper Debate” keep rearing its head? lol. Anyway, you see Ponda in the cantina with flipper like hands when he is at the bar. Yet the hand belongs to none of them when we saw it cut off. There was no way at the time for me to replace the flipper hands at the bar with the “furry” hand we see severed. So i originally replaced the fur hand with the correct flipper. But that didn’t look right on screen. So , as we see the Doctor reaching for his gun, it was logical to swap it out for his. And it worked. But, i created a prop to do that shot. One i no longer have. Now it’s being done in 1080p i can not upscale the very low res footage i originally created and use it in the 1080p edit. I do now, however, MAYBE have the ability to remove the flippered hands from the shots where we see him at the bar and replace them with furry hands, so the original hand can come back. Especially now since we see him with the furry hands in Rogue One (Damn you Gareth. lol)
