I never thought I’d live to see anyone say the movie is slow paced. Critics over the years have blamed Lucas for movies becoming too fast paced in general.
Well, ANH was definitely fast paced and groundbreaking for its time, but I think later action films that have come out since then made ANH look slow and the special effects look rudimentary by comparison. Kind of like how Black Sabbath were considered incredibly loud and heavy in their heyday, but as metal became faster and more intense (insert eyeroll/groan/sarcastic laugh here) over time, Black Sabbath sounded tame by comparison.
