Oh, I just noticed something interesting in this movie, maybe it’s been pointed out before but I don’t recall. It concerns whether or not it was part of the original plan for TFA to have the Starkiller fire at the end, and there’s potentially some evidence to suggest that the firing at least took place at some other time.

Phasma Maz Castle

Presumably, Phasma was supposed to be part of the Maz Castle attack, but right before this in the theatrical version we see her behind Hux as the Starkiller prepares to fire. There are several possibilities for what happened here. Maybe they never intended to have her at the battle and this was just a promo shoot. Maybe they cut her from the battle for some reason and decided to put her digitally into the Starkiller firing to have some explanation for why she was absent, keeping the Starkiller firing in the same place. Or maybe there were significant differences between the shooting script and the final product, where they originally intended the weapon firing to be at a later time but switched gears and filmed pickups of the actors reacting to the Hosnian destruction from Maz’s castle.

I guess what I’m saying is that the Restructured change works a little too well to be coincidental.
