Wait, you actually have the svcd? I thought that was lost to the ages.

Would the SVCD be identical to what was pressed onto DVD bootlegs, if not better quality? I’ve got the original physical release of the Centropy VCD, but I also have about 10 or 11 copies of the CAM rip pressed onto various bootleg DVDs from back in the day too.

So presumably those DVDs (Hong Kong silvers and such) were made from the SVCD and not the other way around.

My mistake, that’s what I originally meant, mucked up my wording a bit there.

I’m curious to give it a look since I do have the original theatrical cuts of the original trilogy (the Despecialized Editions) and Episode I. In fact, I do wish somebody would do an HD version of the theatrical release. And I’ll gladly try to do one for Episode III (if somebody can provide the sources).

I believe Schorman has released one for III (a relatively simpler project).

The footage needed for AoTC isn’t available in HD, or even SD, or anything better than this cam source here. Someone would need to buy and scan a print. A lot of money for a project that most of us probably only see as something that belongs on a checklist, and not something actually meaningful to us.

If the urge to watch this movie ever strikes, I’ll live with the deleted speeder. 😃

I mean, that depends on whether you’re restoring the 35mm or DLP version, and whether the DLP version is as different from the DVD version as has been claimed.

If only somebody would ever preserve the 35mm print of the original theatrical cut of the film, then perhaps that project would be possible.

There are plans to preserve all the prequel 35mm versions.

I’ve currently got this version uploaded onto Google Drive with the starting fanfare added from the BR and the credits have also for. It might stick out a bit, but I think it looks alright. Contrast has been changed slightly as well.

PM me for a link.

I’d like to see it.

I believe there was also an SVCD released by Centropy of this same recording. Would be a much better source to analyze, but I haven’t heard of anyone having retained a copy this long.

You mean the 3 Disc Version? I found it earlier on Myspleen. The picture is a bit stretched an it’s in 25fps PAL, but it has a good quality.

Somewhere I have a CD with a Divx file, it’s not put together from the 3 disc version, it’s complete without missing frames. So there should be a raw file with the complete movie, which was splitted for the VCD. I also had a two disc SVCD of it with German sound, but I don’t have it anymore.

It’s been ages, but I recall a VCD of Attack of the Clones getting released before the movie hit theaters in the US.

I don’t remember too much from this version, only that at the end, Anakin had a completely different prosthetic hand at the end than what was show in the theatrical version - it was much more bulky. Is this the same as that version?

That sounds like the 35mm version.
The digital version had a different looking robit hand with different lighting (none of the rich, golden evening lighting sparkle).
