Jurassic Park 35mm 16:9 (Released)

Hi all.

Since I produced this version, it has come to light that there is a superior version with a higher resolution available. As such, I am no longer intending on sharing the version I did.

Please do not message me regarding jurassic Park.

Basically, I couldn’t find any version of the original film that I watched in the cinema, in the format that I originally saw it. So I managed to obtain the open matte 35mm and I cropped the frame of specific individual shots in order to make it all line up and present full frame, albeit in a reduced resolution.

is there? thanks 😃
Perhaps that is what I saw because I live in the UK.
Whatever the case, what I have done has made the frame size and aspect consistent, so it can be cropped in mediaplayer automatically with no real difficulty.
That was the biggest issue with the open matte, the sfx shots just didn’t match the non sfx shots at all and there were black bars at the side of all the non sfx shots.
it might have made more sense for the original encoder of that file to add black bars on the top and bottom of the sfx shots and render out at a larger than 1080p file… but oh well.

Hello! I’ve been looking for original 35mm versions of Jurassic Park and just came across this - would love to get ahold of it if you could get it to me! I already own the 2011 and 2013 blurays, need to get the 4K ones sometime when I can grab a 4K Bluray player.

Thank you!!

FYI. This may be a bit wiseacre but there is a 16:9 version called 2.0 released from the same guys that made the Open Matte version.

Is that version actually available though? To normal people who cant get membership to those private trackers. If it is then cool but I made this specifically because I couldnt find it after searching for ages.

Btw, all those people asking if this is still available, it might help if you send me a message and actually ask for it. Why should I chase after you to give you a link?

Understand exactly, I’m with you.
Yes, version 2,0 is on Blutopia.

But, you made a good option for those not in the private sites.

There was also a European version framed at 1.66:1.

Hi, can you provide evidence of this? I’m not questioning your claim. Just curious about it. Thanks. 😃

P.S: I love the 1.66:1 aspect ratio! It means more image height in both the live-action and Cgi scenes than in the 1.85:1 version.

That’s the problem with these 35mm preservation, not many peoples have access to them. It sucks sometime, there’s some I want so bad like the Lion King, but they are kept in the hand of a select few peoples who were fortunate enough to hear about the project before it got released. If anyone is looking for a 35mm preservation, I have access to most of the one who got a public release on private trackers. I would be happy to do my part to help peoples out getting their hand on the one that I am allowed to share as I feel it is doing everyone a disservice not to have access to them. I will honor the wish of the peoples who asked not to have their preservation shared around eventough I don’t agree with them tho.

this is the problem with intellectual property law. I am a content creator and I certainly support people being protected and compensated for what they produce, but it is all imbalanced in such a way it is difficult for fan creations, adaptations, and archival etc.
I mean if a film has been shown on TV 100s of times, I think that’s enough. if these versions are not actually being sold by the IP holders, then why shouldn’t they be made available through other means? it’s all wrong.

there’s lots of films i’s love to see the original print of, but I’d hate to ask for them because i might ask for too much and I’m also not great at one to one social interactions.

Could someone help me find a full version of that 35mm scan?

If anyone wants to do a new higher quality scan send me a message. I don’t have funding for this right now, but I can do it with a bit of help.

Hello, I tried to crop the matte as well but I couldn’t get a nice result. If you have the link to that already cropped version you guys are talking about please! I’d like to get it. Thank you anyway!
