I don’t know why the idea of Anakin giving Kylo a talking to caught on so much. It sounds like it would have been a god awful scene, no offense. It must’ve crossed their mind but I also kind of doubt it was something that was ever seriously planned to happen.
Mostly because one of Kylo Ren’s earliest defined traits was his reverence towards Vader and wanting to finish his mission (even if this was later abandoned in TLJ, the Vader mask returned for TROS). Anakin’s appearance is often brought up as a way to subvert Kylo’s misguided thoughts about his grandfather, and I’ve seen it endorsed by many people who think it would bring the 9-film saga full circle to have Anakin play a meaningful part in the finale.
