But doesn't "All Your Hanks" sound more like "All Your Base" than "All Your Hank"? Besides, the whole allure of the All Your Base craze (which was soooo three years ago, mind you) was that the grammar, spelling, etc. was supposed to atrocious? Why start adhering to rules all of a sudden?

I see what your saying about not alienating the older/existing fan base but from the article it looks like they are taking Bond to his roots. Like I said, I've only read one book and it was so long ago i dont remember it, plus it wasnt Casino Royal. Was Casino Royal the first book? Im sure some of you have read it. Id be interested in some comments from those that read it regarding the article, particularly this part:
Quote

Writer Paul Haggis recently told the Hollywood Reporter: "We're trying to reinvent Bond. He's 28 - no Q, no gadgets."

In the 1953 Casino Royale book, the spy was introduced as a more youthful, realistic and cold character than he has since become in the films.

off topic, the last thing ill say about this stupid 'All your ____ belong to us'

umm, Tom Hanks being a name, is singular.

surely its got to be a British or Irish actor, the papers and some fans over here will probably kick up a right stink if its a non-British or non-Irish Bond after all Lazenby wasnt too popular I seen papers over here moaning that Bond wasnt gonna be driving a british made car in one of the films ?.

I partly agree the last couple of Bonds have been utter crap, It should return to the Connery era style bonds eg From Russia with Love type stories or the Dalton era style Bonds, not the yawnfests that were Die another Day and The World is not Enough if the new ones gonna be like those two dont bother, put 007 into retirment for a few more years.

Yes, royale was the first.

I've actually read Casino Royale(along with many other books in the series), and Bond was no rookie in it: he is a cold, cruel man with insatiable appetites for alcohol, fine food, and fine women.

Connery comes close in Dr. No and FRWL, but even then he was too nice to be truly Fleming's Bond.

Yeah, I see your point, I wasn't thinking last night! I will from now on adhere to the strict rules of "All your base." I know it was three years ago, but I didn't know about it until about a month ago, and thought it was cool for the same reason you give.

I know I'm alone in this, but I think they should return to the Roger Moore era.

Yes, you are certainly alone with that, DAD was even better than almost every Moore film(though FYEO was pretty good).

Connery was the best Bond the only lesser one being Diamonds are Forever.

The Roger Moore era was a mixed bag from good ones like The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only and average ones like Live and Let Die Man wiith the Golden Gun(Chris Lee was great though) to even lesser efforts like Octopussy Moonraker and A View to a Kill.

That cremation scene in Diamonds are Forever just freaked me out!

if pierce is not in the movie then i will not even bother going to see it, and i can already see them losing business because he has quite a following. plus the bastards stiffed him on his five picture deal.

Its a shame Brosnan was a good Bond but he wasnt given the greatest material to work with all the time eg World is not Enough Die Another Day,

Dalton is probably the most underated Bond of the lot, and so are his two additions to the Bond series, he was better than Moore I feel, and those two films left some of Moore's Bond efforts in the shade.

I cant judge him on one film but he should not have been cast in the first place, they needed a more expericened actor I feel, I think O.H.M.S.S is a good Bond(though some dont like it), but when watching I cant help but feel you miss Connery, and do wonder what it would have been like with Connery there, and I would have prefered Pleasence to come back as Blofeld, as I though I think Telly Savalas did his usual good job, I felt Pleasence was much better Blofeld.

although i liked moore i thought his bond was too campy and too seventies. connery as bond is still tops and untouchable. brosnan comes a close second.

Connery was the best Bond, but I think some of the movies from the Moore era are the best bond movies(with the exception of Goldfinger which is the best movie).

For some reason, I liked Roger Moore best too. And I hated Sean Connery until he got older and did stuff like Indiana Jones and Finding Forrester. Having said that, I thought Brosnan was a pretty good choice. He did look rather Moore-ish (get it?!).

But on a side note, I've always hated James Bond movies. I hated the old ones because he's a womaniser. I hate the new ones because they're so damn predictable. And I know it's meant to be this way, but I think it gets past the point of satire, and actually becomes that annoying.

Anyway, carry on.

A few pages ago, we did. I like it. Other people don't consider it part of the canon.
