That's what Luca$ doesn't understand. It's the fans that fuel the series, not the cash.

I dont mind Lucas making tons of cash he deserves it for the hard work he puts in his films, but its way it sometimes stoops so low and is a blantant attempt to make easy cash eg, marketing toilet paper, bowling tournaments, appearing on TV shows to advertise a DVD, re-releasing the same boxset with a different cover within months etc. I see nothing wrong with action figures and toy spaceships and some books etc, but even they take that too far to make more easy cash

With the O-O-T would it hurt George to release it for two/three months or a limited number 500,000/1,000,000 copies as a reward for the people that have stuck by Lucas and Star Wars for over 25 years, if you didnt pick or get it, tough luck(which would not surely compromise his "Vision" for the Star Wars Universe).

That's what I meant in my post, he goes too far and thinks the fans will continue to support his releasing of the series, just to make money.

This would have been a great time to release the O-OT, but we get the SE repackaged.

I have to say, I have had it. I am about to give up, and really not care anymore. Lucas has ruined the myth of Star Wars, and you have so many PT defenders who like Star Wars for all the wrong reasons. We were the generation who supported Star Wars and brought it to prominence, and now Lucas spits on us. The PT has ruined the spirit of Star Wars because everyone is fighting and barking at each other, instead of defending

I really never thought I would feel this way, but unless the O-OT comes out on DVD, Lucas will not get anymore of my money. That will that hurt his empire, no, not one person can do that, but I know it wont make a difference, but for me personally, I am saying peace out to Star Wars. I have my fondest memories from 77-83, and I will ALWAYS WATCH AND LOVE those movies, but I am done caring what Lucas does. There is only so much a person can take, before they say 'Peace out'

Mr Bungle, listen to this. A few minutes ago, I was on TF.N. When I got on one of those forums dealing with the changes to the OT, I typed in simply "han shoots first." I got a response from some jerk that "that's funny, last time I checked, Greedo shot first." No joke. TF.N is starting to really scare me. I see why you stay away!

Yes, there are so many yes men and asskissers over there, you could replace Sir Alec Guinness with George Bush as the ghost of Obi Wan and some of these idiots will say what a great change it is and make up a reason for the change.

But aren't you usually the one who usually types "Greedo shot first!" over on these boards to get the same kind of reaction?

Seems like someone will do anything to spark a little controversy/get a little attention...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I did that crap just to see what some of the purists would say.

Danm, couldn't he just release the originals if he is that hunfry for cash! I serious don't think farmer George realizes the cash cow he has waiting to be milked.

He will not release them I do not feel, no matter how much cash he could make from their release, they are not part of his "vision" for Star Wars and the artist in him does not want to see the originals associated with his "vision" for Star Wars anymore, now how much or any of this overall "vision" for Star Wars includes some absurd merchandising is for debate, but he is happy with his fortune and making money with the merchandising etc which is unfortunate for the people who want the O.O.T

I think it is really important right now to separate the 'Star Wars' as a brand name from the 'Star Wars' as a film series.

Lucasfilm Ltd. is a major corporation with hundreds of divisions, unfortunately, one of them happens to be a licensing division which George Lucas has little to no involvement in. Does anyone really believe that George Lucas wakes up in the middle of the night and says, "We should make Star Wars Transformers!"? I sure don't.

It's become too easy to blame the "failures" of the film series on the licensing division of Lucasfilm. Let's get back to basics here.

That's the same way I feel and is probably the only hope we ever have of seeing official OOT DVDs.

It would be nice if someone, after he died, would make a movie version of "Shadows of the Empire," as well.

"A lot of people think that Lucas went crazy sometime in the nineties and is only doing this for the money. Who knows his true intentions, but one thing is certain: from the Admiral Ackbar cookie mold to Revenge of the Sith toilet paper, there has always been some obscure items with Star Wars slapped on them."

Which is why I have the .sig I now have.

I, myself, haven't lost faith in what Star Wars used to be...only in what it has become, and where it is heading.

I surely haven't.

Point in case: the other day for my comm class we had to present a introductory speech about something memorable to us. We were given several days to work on it...
I naturally chose Star Wars & did what Oprah would have made Oprah proud: I burned 27 copies of the TR47 ANH for everyone in the class to have.

That combined with an easy subject (Why Star Wars has been memorable to me) & my being pretty fair at speech giving anyways, all combined in my earning a perfect 100 for the assignment..
So yeah, especially with the kind of support to be had within these boards, no way will I ever give up on Star Wars.

"Is there anyway to correct the Leia/Mother speach in Jedi by adding new dialogue. I heard that at all the sites like theforce.net and starwars.com. Also when I did try to spread the word accross these "fans" they really didn't care about the O-OT and said "Watch the original movies on your old VHS copies instead of unesscarly getting it on DVD."

I nearly lost passion in the O-OT and the petition.

whenever i hear crap like that it just reaffirms my curent belief in the Heard Mentality and makes me want to spread the word more...

Some people around the net who want the O.O.T dont help themselves I sent PMs trying to spread the word about us,the cause, and the wonderful fan-edits editons and at worst ebay but reply they are not interested or not at all, then they continue arguing about the SEs and wanting the O.O.T on DVD..

I think though I hate to say it Lucas will not release it, and one day they will realise they will have to settle for second best

I love how things have turned out with Lucas' stance. It gives a sense of freedom to the talented bunch in here who do a better job than Lucas ever would if he ever did release the OOT. The nostalgia that most of us cling to in these films give a great sense of unity in wanting to preserve it. That excitement we used to get as a child in watching these classics is relived over and over with every great new attempt in preserving these films. So much of what the true fans of these classic films do gives us much more satisfaction than Lucas is able to give at this point. I say Lucas can be as stubborn as he wants... so much more care and attention is paid to by the fans, and the fans alone. I am OK with that.
