We are given no information on why Rey’s parents left her, only guesses before JJ Abrams gives us the facts. Facts often rewrite what we think, but they were true all along. So there is no contradiction about their motives, only rumor vs. truth. We gat that in TLJ with what Luke did to spark Ben’s turn to the dark side. The truth about Rey’s parents just takes longer to reveal. Why? Because that is a key piece of who Rey is and everything blocking her from moving forward in all three stories. But in TROS we get an answer that lets Rey truly move on from it.
