I ABSOULUTLY love the original SW trilogy. Cant get enough. Waited a whole year to watch them AGAIN in all its Glory on a full 16x9 Widescreen TV with my home stereo set up with some equalizations for my speakers to sound just like as it sounded in the movie theatres.

Sounds like a good plan. What versions will you be putting on?

So I got them digitally from online movie download sites and i think they are the 2004 editions haven’t watched them in a while but I am mostly certain. However I AM still looking for the 1997 editions OR the original theatre versions to have also. Know who or where i might find those?

Most likely have the 2004 editions. I had them in the early 00s on DVD but after i lost those I then looked for 4K digital digital copies online @ download movie websites. anything other I would to buy the anthology and go broke or Ill have to look very very hard for the 2004 DVDs at a comic or at vintage DVD movie store. either way It will be hard on me.

I know what you mean i have the 2004 set in storage and the gout 2006 2 DVD fullscreen sets in storage as well. Along with the 2011 blu-ray.

The only Macklunky 2020 copy i have is digital. I don’t have the 4K/blu-ray set, i only paid like 30 for the 1080P remaster digitally. The best buy set was going to cost me 250 and i couldn’t justify that.

I’ve freed up the entire day and was planning on starting a rewatch of The Mandalorian, but maybe I’ll watch my three Harmy discs instead.

Hey GOOD FOR YOU. its the original release day of episode IV which also happens to my birthday. I loved that I came out on the exact day my birthday in 1977. Could’ve ask for a better day. Wahoo.

Did I mention that I believe the ones are watching are the 1997 versions with the 20th Century opening. Is that good?

I was able to treat myself to something special on 5/4. A local theater had a special showing of A New Hope. Social distancing protocols in place. I was curious what version they were going to show. It turned out to be the 2011 version. Except it wasn’t. As I watched I could instantly tell which verison and it had the usual major flaws, except the overall magenta tone that I am so used to and mad at with the DVD, HD, and Blu-ray was not there. Leia was not pink, the rebel soldiers were not lobsters, so of the overall color glitches were gone. In their place were shots that felt like one of us had done an overall color correction to fix it. I was quite surprised at that.

The theater had a special reason for showing ANH. It opened as a silent movie theater/vaudville house in 1920. When Star Wars came out it was their longest running movie their history. Then the theater closed for 20 years. Now it is a multi function event center. One thing about its age, it reminded me, not of any theater I had seen Star Wars in before, but a similar and far more ornate Fox theater I saw such movies as The Wilderness Family, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Roger, and The Black Hole in. The sound was so familiar. The uncurtained walls led to echoes. The sound system was modern with a modern 2k projector, but it was a nostalgic experience. C-3PO sounded like I might have seen it back then, but the base was modern and deep and shook the building. So much like that version of the film. Mostly like I saw it the first 10 time, but with SE bits. It did look good for the most part, but could look better. I would so have preferred it was the original or the new D+ version. But it was a great way to celebrate the day. And a great 13th theatrical viewing.
