Some info on Star Wars video tape releases in Japan - at projectcclarke’s informative ‘Star Wars On Home Video’ reference site:-

There does not appear to have been an Original Trilogy box set release on home video before 1997 in Japan - though if anyone knows differently please post up some images and information - thank you.

There were indeed individual film releases - and also ‘set releases’ before 1997 (as pictured below; from both 1990 & 1995) - though seemingly no ‘box set’ releases…
