Yes that would be very nice. Or, imagine this, a Mario Party game in which you have to pass the controller in hands very fast - like a bomb - and if it "exploded" in your hands you lost (since it has an in-built rumble pack, that would be cool). Imagine the possibilities... I mean, of course it must have a regular controller with it, but the "remote" thing is pretty neat.

Indeed, hopefully the big N won't take third place in the next Console War, its time for them to make a comeback and show the gaming industry exactly who saved it back in '86.

Auctully the NES came out in 83.

Well, the Famicom was released in '83, but the NES was released in the US in '86.

I thought it was 85. Pretty sure that's the copyright date on the game Super Mario Brothers, and that was the release title.

I found this in a quick search:

"The system was originally targeted for release in spring '85, but the release date was pushed back. After test-marketing in the New York City area in late fall, the system was released nationwide in February, 1986."

Videogames back them took some time before hitting the western market. Sega's Genesis and Game Gear, NES and SNES, they all took literally years. I'm not sure why.

Hm. Perhaps it took longer to translate/remarket them back then. Gaming was, compared to today, a very niche market back then.

Nes took like 3 years!

It took me six to get one... I finally had my hands on my NES in 1989, six years after the original Famicon was released.

I bought an original Game Boy in the early 90s. I never actually owned a NES until 1998.

I belive this is just one of the possible options for playing with it. By the way, for those who didn't read the article, this controller has some sort of a gyroscope, so you can use it as a virtual sword or fishing rod...

And in that respect, you'll probably actually SAVE money on peripherals, as far as light-gun games, fishing games, etc. go. I have mixed feelings on the subject. I think that they're approach to their new console and gaming on the whole is a lot healthier than Microsoft and Sony's. Microsoft and Sony is saying pretty unabashedly that they'll be doing the same things they've always done - juice up the graphics 200% or more, maybe a little more internet stuff. Nintendo seems to be wanting to open up more gaming possibilities.

On the other hand, descriptions I've read on IGN.com confuse the hell outta me and a STILL have no idea how the controller works.

I might buy a GC soon, and see how I go. I'm pretty late to buy next-gen these days (I bought my XBox early this year). Then again, I'll probably end up buying whatever has the most Sega games.

Maybe it's a bit like the VMU for the Dreamcast - it'd be cool if it doubled as a memory card or something, wouldn't it? And I would most definitely get it if it had all past Nintendo games available for download - don't underestimate the number of people whose old machines or controllers are screwed and they long for that experience again. Actually, if Sega games become downloadable on it, it will be a no-brainer for me - I just wish that I had two completely functional Megadrive controllers sometimes. And it would remove the need for me to plug in and unplug my four systems all the time.

You place two motion sensors to the left and right of your television; the controller senses its own distance and position in relation to them and reacts accordingly. As for memory, the Revolution is supposed to have some form of storage on board, so it doesn't need memory cards. Only problem is, that the data storage capacity is only 128MB last I heard, so it could get used up real fast by a game like Madden or a Sqare Enix game.

The controller's either gonna be a hit or miss with me. It just depends on how it feels. I'm pretty sure they have an add-on that goes on the remote right?

Two addons have been confimed already; An anolog stick that lets you move and aim at the same time--it also has two triggers on it..

And a controller shell that you stick the remote into to give it standard functionality.
