Chapter 8 Changelog:
- General streamlining, changing needlessly complicated words (unless it’s in dialog), etc.
- Removed Poe inquiring about the thing Finn wanted to say because I moved that to the previous chapter.
- Used Captain Faraday’s description of Ochi’s armor from the comics
- Used a rendition of Captain Faraday’s description as for why Sith Cultists put secrets on their weapons (kills make it more secretive via blood magic)
- Better descriptions of Force healing (see the post two above this one)
- Rey thinks to herself that the Jedi were definitely wrong about forbidding Force healing on beings
- Ochi’s ship is described as if a bunch of junkers have lived in it (Rey’s parents). Additionally, Finn sees boxes of replacement parts instead of weapons. This creates the indication that Ochi was intending on fixing up his ship when he got it back from them, but hadn’t got around to it yet at the time of Luke chasing him down.
- Kylo no longer wants to kill Rey (why, just why, Rae Carson?!). Instead, he is conflicted on whether or not he wants to put her in harm’s way to get her to unleash her dark side.
- When Kylo sees Rey’s crackling lightsaber, it only reassures him that he needs to push her to embrace the dark side through any means necessary
- Finn remembers that Chewie has the dagger. Additionally, inserted the Knights of Ren line: “I get his teeth”. Both up the stakes a bit.
- Kept the transition to Kylo Ren only to further clarify that Rey had defeated his TIE with only the light. He decides he needs to duel her to unlock her dark side until he sees a golden opportunity: the freighter.
- For some reason Rae Carson had Kylo admit defeat at the end of this chapter. I completely disagree with that interpretation. Instead, the chapter ends with him thinking to himself that he has already won, since Rey had started down the dark path. He has accomplished part of what he set out to do.
