Yup so it turns out in canon that he was just chilling on the planet. But that was never the impression I got out of the scene. I thought his vehicle was basically like a taxi service or something.

I still stand by that removing the line would only make things worse. We should be trying to make it seem like he hasn’t just been chilling there.

And where has he been this whole time? Well, I’d imagine after the First Order took his daughter that he probably left the cause and did his own business ventures for a while.
