I’ve used Hybrid, and its an excellent program, but I prefer dmMediaConverter and Staxrip for ease of use. As for converting a blu-ray rip to Prores, I just use makemkv, switch the mkv container to mp4 using dmMediaConverter WITHOUT ANY RE-ENCODING, and export to Prores using Premiere.

Already got the new version, will check it later 😃

Yes, MakeMkv is immo my favourite, too. Especially for my 4k Blu-rays. dmMediaConverter i never heard off, but will check it out!

Krausfadr, you´ve totally nailed it now for the continuity regarding batmans voice! Just awesome. From my end i´ve nothing further and deem it perfect.

hello krausfadr,

watched your edit three times already^^
So i started to notice one more thing:

  • 5:56 till 6:06 —-> this shot seems to be dimmer/more grey than the shots before and after in the cellar (can you verify that?), 6:11 is perfectly fine again (nearly the same shot and angle)

Otherwise found nothing new.

So, do you have plans for and to do TDK, TDKR?^^

CMMAP thank you for watching the edit [AGAIN] and taking notes! I will take a break from the Dark Knight series with no definitive plans to continue onto the Dark Knight yet. For two reasons…

One, the changes I want to make which would make it worth it to me require VFX beyond my skill level. The desired changes for The Dark Knight would include the civilian hostages exploding (I would have them push the detonator button to kill the prisoners on the other ferry, but guess what the jokes on them and it explodes their own ferry instead) and also changing the look of the new skinny Batsuit to something better.

Two, I would like have an edit published on Fanedit.org, so I will make my next effort on something without much VFX where I can focus much more on the sound engineering and cuts to the score being absolutely clean. My next effort will also be done in Resolve, so I’m learning the basic functionality of that program now. It’s really amazing with its color capabilities.

CMMAP, so well I loaded the movie the Dark Knight and started tinkering.

Guess I’ll start a new thread for it. : )

Pahaha, i wanted to respond, that’s totally ok if you favour other projects and your personal life.
But this news is received with great joy! The timing is right, because i’m thinking of upgrading to a little home cinema with an ust laser projector and a 222 x 125 cm screen😁

This looks amazing. Could I get a link to the 1080p version?

I went through the edit today, and I liked quite a lot of things about it: altered plot points, such as Batman being darker in his actions, the voice modulation of Batman, the rescore, the audio distortions, and, to an extent, the new dark look of the film. Scarecrow & fear-toxin Batman are downright demonic.

However, I couldn’t watch the whole thing as, for me personally, the new grade puts a strain on my eyes. I think this could be toned down a bit, especially in the daytime scenes, but also the nighttime scenes, as the contrast/slight blurriness can be painful to look at. I also think that the edit could do with stripping down the film to barebones and keeping the pace high, so as to place the focus on the more modified scenes by removing some scenes and sideplots, e.g. the business side of Wayne enterprises. But that’s just my personal preference.

I still think this is great and really imaginative, and I’m impressed with what you’ve done here, I’d just tone down the visual filters a bit.

Thanks heavyside. I agree with you on the grading. It was my first major regrade. It’s was HDR. And it was Premiere. I won’t repeat that again.
