(and this is the cameo Paul Bettany was talking about).

SPOILERS:

I heard that because white vision is also played by Paul Bettany, the cameo/actor he’d ‘always wanted to work with’ was actually himself.

I thought the series finale was a little rushed, up until the final 10 minutes - which may be my favourite 10 minutes in the MCU. Unfortunately Pietro and Hayward were dealt with a little too quickly and easily in my opinion, but I have far more positive things to say about the episode than negative things.

Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Kathryn Hahn deserve all the love for their brilliant acting, and Christophe Beck deserves all the love for his beautiful music throughout the series. The ending of the show was so touching, and I like how when the hex has vanished, Wanda is standing in the same spot where she started it, and in the same clothes. It’s as if the whole thing was a dream.

The big complaints I see about the finale are from comic book fans disappointed that there was no multiverse and no Mephisto, in the end. With the amount of teases, mystery boxes and red herrings in the show, I don’t blame them. But - from the perspective of someone who’s never actually read the comics - I appreciated that this was first and foremost Wanda’s story, and it never got sidetracked from that.

Time for Falcon and Winter Soldier! Then Loki! I wish they’d give some release dates for the Star Wars series. Right now we only know when The Bad Batch is coming (May 4th). Still looking for Obi-Wan, Boba Fett, and Visions dates for this year. Everything else is later.

Boba Fett is confirmed for December and will be immediately followed by Mando Season 3, then Andor in February 2022, and then Kenobi in May 2022.

Visions will apparently happen in 2021, according to Kennedy at least, but yeah no exact release window has been given for that one yet (which is odd).

I found the first episode kind of meh, just because of how many different things seemed to be happening and how hard it was to tell what the direction of the show was going to be, but it all came together in the second episode. Really looking forward to the rest. It looks like these Marvel shows are going to be a treat!

Right, I feel I HAVE to come here and comment on this. No spoilers, just in case, but the MCU just got more violent and arguably more politically relevant than it’s ever been. They mentioned Afghanistan! They’re doing real political things now! This series is fantastic and I’m totally hooked, with all different aspects of it. I might like TFATWS even more than Wandavision.

I once worried Marvel’s ‘phase 4’ might just feel like unnecessary cash-grab projects, but they’re going in bold new directions and I couldn’t be happier!

SPOILERS for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 4:

There’s a deal Marvel have had with the US military, where the military provides funding for productions in return for controlling how they’re portrayed in that production. If Marvel have that same deal going for TFATWS, they’re skating on thin ice right now. I can’t help but feel that John Walker’s revenge-killing of a flagsmasher member is an allegory for the excessive retaliation the US inflicted on Afghanistan and Iraq, especially because Walker himself is a veteran from one of those wars.

To be fair though, they mentioned Afghanistan right at the beginning in Iron Man…Tony Stark went there, after all (or was it Iraq or something? I forget). But yeah, I feel like it’s a lot more gritty and real than a lot of other Marvel stuff and I love it. Not as much as Wandavision, but it’s still pretty good.

It seems that Phase 4 is exploring a lot of the trauma and psychology of the Avengers, which I find super interesting. Between Wanda, Bucky, and it seems Black Widow, it looks like there’ll be a lot more of that than there has been before.

Though I don’t participate much in conversations on the main board anymore, I really wanted to pitch in with this. I have come to love the MCU, perhaps more than Star Wars (heresy, I know)! Wandavision was amazing and I am looking forward to the last episode of The Falcon and Winter Soldier. Admittedly, the movies can only do so much character development, but these series have the ability to explore the characters so much more thoroughly!

But the real reason I came to this thread today was to share this news:

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/21/disney-signs-deal-to-stream-spider-man-other-sony-films-.html

I am glad that Sony and Disney have been able to peacefully share Spider-man since Tom Holland pushed them to compromise after their last squabble in 2019. Now, they have come to a new deal and I look forward to Spidey content coming to Disney+! I just love this shared universe!

Now all we need is Universal to share the standalone Hulk rights!

Yay! I wonder if they’ll be able to add the Spider-man movies that have already come out. I still haven’t seen the last one…

Yes, from what I understand, the Raimi trilogy, the Webb duology, and the Homecoming films will all make their way to Disney+. I love the Spider-man movies (Amazing Spider-man less) and am eager to have them all available on a single streaming service!

I am also very eager to see Homecoming 3, whatever it will be called. I usually steer clear of the movie rumor mill, but this one has me engrossed and excited!

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale was excellent. The Shang-Chi trailer was better than I’d imagined. My interest is boosted. Marvel just keeps knocking 'em out of the park!

I loved the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

SPOILERS:

John Walker’s redemption of sorts was maybe a little too fast, as was maybe Karli’s death. Literally my only two criticisms of the episode. I can’t help but feel what happened to John Walker was a bit like what happened to Wanda at the end of Wandavision - both did terrible things, even if they made the right choices later, and came out of it fairly well. In fact, both had renewed identities - she became the Scarlet Witch, he’s now US Agent. But both Wanda and John were developed really well and I can’t wait to see where both of them go next.

(More spoilers)

I admire the show’s willingness to be very on-the-nose about racial themes. It’s a Marvel project that’s really, truly trying to say something important - just take that incredible speech from Sam - and that’s really impressive. The speech scene, the scene where Isaiah visits the museum, Bucky’s confession to Mr Nakajima: all incredibly moving. What a phenomenal series.

Also yeah, if I hadn’t known it was happening beforehand (and if not for the Marvel logo plastered everywhere!) I likely wouldn’t have known Shang Chi is a MCU film. It seems Marvel are stepping out of their comfort zone with this new stuff, I love to see it.

Beyond liking the characters (huge MCU nerd), I wasn’t sure what to expect.

SPOILER

Dug the finale, but I’m not happy that Walker is appearing to get a pass.

Regarding Sam’s suit…

SPOILERS

Can I just say that if I were gifted a really cool but inherently dangerous flight suit made of vibranium, one of the toughest metals on earth, I would want it to cover more than, you know, everything but the head. Just sayin’.

Anchorhead…

SPOILERS

I didn’t feel like Walker was given a pass. Personally, I felt the government stripped him of his right to represent the U.S., but as he, Sam, and Bucky had a common goal, they united in the end. Meanwhile, he was being courted by Val, a woman of questionable motives. In the comics, she is titled Lady HYDRA. Walker feels legitimized and patriotic, but he is heading down a dark path.

I only know this from reading nerd articles; I had no idea who she was before her appearance.
