I like the “becoming” a dyad idea. It feels more romantic to me that this power is something born out of their organically-developed connection, rather than the original implication, which seems to be the opposite, that they’re drawn to one another because the Force decided to make them a dyad (presumably whenever Rey was born?). This is probably because I do admittedly prefer heroes with self-determination rather than set destinies.

However, the Rise of Kylo Ren comic has Rey feel Kylo’s fall to the dark side before they ever meet, which does somewhat firmly establish the idea that they were predestined soulmates (guess the Force just sets up arranged marriages).
