Thanks everyone. I appreciate the feedback. I just wanna get this movie finished now so I can move on the others asap!

Quick new scene - T Minus 5 (Between Clips after removing the Holochess & Klaud scenes)

Changes made…

  1. Split T Minus 5 and Finns “R2” shots between the Falcon cuts
  2. Masked Windows
  3. Added background of coming out of hyperspace
  4. Readded dirt in windows
  5. Added slight blur to hide the 80s blue screen effect and match focus in the scene

I wonder if it would work better if you flipped the hyperspace matte so the star streaks as they’re slowing down are pointing in the opposite direction. The angle is sort of noticeable as-is.

I think they’re going in the right direction? The hyperspace wormhole was to the right. I used the scene from Rogue One

I think the way you have it, it looks like they’re exiting hyperspace sideways, with the vanishing point of the star streaks are out to the left side of the Falcon, rather than in front of it or behind it. If you flipped it to where the vanishing point was on the opposite side, it might look like the star streaks are stretching in the same direction that the Falcon is going, even though it is actually backwards. But it will look correct to the audience, though.

I think the big difference is that right now, the direction the star streaks are pointing, and the direction the Falcon is pointing, are perpendicular to each other. It makes it look off. Whereas if you flipped it, the direction the star streaks are pointing and the direction the Falcon is pointing will be parallel.

This is hard to explain. It’s just what my brain is noticing when I first looked at it. I might be wrong though.

No, I totally get it… I think it plays backwards when they exit and we usually see them going in. I hadn’t noticed that before but I just checked. The exit hole is definitely in alinement with Poes eyeline. I just learnt something 😃

Looking at your edit list, am I correct in assuming you’re going to keep Leia alive? If so are you doing anything to have her at the celebration at the end or something else?

incredible work mate and everyone who was involved. just dope.
About your idea with red sith lightning: very creative idea, but i don’t know if it fits the sw universe. but ultimately it’s your creative work.

Thanks. I’m so amazed at everyone’s contributions to this project. The idea came from this and it will only turn red once Palpatine takes the energy from Ben & Rey. I’m working on the wide shot of the lightning going up into the sky and hitting the ships. It starts off blue but then turns red. I just felt Exagol needed more colour and this would show that Palp has reached “ULTIMATE POWER”. It does take a frame-by-frame colouration much like the crackling Saber so it’s gonna take a while to finish.

Well if you put it in this perspective, sold^^
But i assume it’s not a official explanation, at least i wouldn’t be aware of that.

Red lightning is certainly appropriate here. The hinted lore is that it’s the most version of lightning, and aside from looking much better visually for the shot, it would signify a Palpatine at his peak, especially considering how he used the lightning to such powerful effects.

That’s pretty much the idea. Glad it’s backed up but lore. 👍🏼

Since you’re talking about lightning, part of how I’ve seen that scene playing out is that when Rey is blasting the lightning back at Sidious the reason it kills him is she’s feeding her power into the lightning. So I’ve always wanted THAT lightning to be yellow.

That would be a lot though, red and yellow lightning…

Anyway, live the red lightning idea.

Yeah, after Skenera did the yellow Rey lightning clip I did think about that. I’m gonna put it up for public vote once I get 1000 subs to unlock the community tab.

I think yellow for the Palpatine shot may be lost so the red vs. Purple/blue lightning back is the direction I’m thinking.

In regards to the hyperspace in the T-minus 5 clip, I’d say just keep it without the streaks. I think it would visually look smoother. just my thoughts tho.

I’ve taken everyone’s feedback into consideration and tried the most aggressive crackling effect that I could without it looking way too fanedity.

That looks pretty good! I think Kylo’s crackling was intended to thematically reflect his own aggression and instability, so going harder on Rey’s makes it a better match imo. Too light and it might just look like a technical glitch on the movie’s part.
