I think the prequels suck too, but I still think they should be preserved exactly the way they were in theatres, something that George has already seen to keep from happening. But the future of a film's survival shouldn't be dependent on such arbitrary reasons of whether or not it "sucks." I think it gives us less credibility than we already have to be whining to George, "Don't change the Star Wars trilogy! Give us back the originals!" only to turn around and say, "Yes! Thanks for changing Yoda in Episode I! Good job!" It just doesn't make any sense.
Ive have to partly agree with Gaffer in one way, but on the other hand I dont mind change as long as it is sensible and looks good and blends, and something thing that isnt crap and looks like a 10 minute cut and paste job and changes the story eg Greedo firing changes the character of Han and looks crap, .The Yoda in Ep1 is sensible change as its basically a cosmetic change(and wasnt liked by the majority of fans) and it doesnt influence the story.
The O-O-T should be preserved because of its a place in filmaking history and it won all the awards not the SEs and I want it partly because some of Lucas changes are ridicolous and dont blend into film in my opinion and because they are the films a generation grew up with and should made available with the Lucas SE so the fans have a choice(which I feel Lucas could do with comprising his "vision" as he says)
