IMHO, I think all three ST films have pretty clear romantic (and marriage specifically) imagery and elements. It’s not sarcasm. In the surrealist cinematic world of the main Star Wars saga, those present clearly to me. I’m not overly acquainted with esoteric Reylo internet stuff, it’s just my read of the movies.

Kylo carrying Rey across the threshold, taking of hands (rejecting Finn’s hand in favor of taking Kylo/Ben’s even), and lines like, “I do.”

It doesn’t have to make sense. This is a weird movie universe where archetypes play themselves out melodramatically. Rey is the light (and female) and Kylo is the dark (and male). Of course there’s going to be romantic and sexual archetypes invoked.

Yes, Star Wars always had these romantic and sexual archetypes, but in the previous trilogies were more explicit. I think in sequel trilogy they could have be more explicit, only signs aren’t enough in my opinion.
