I think that Star Wars should be made with the common audience in mind. So, yes, it may have been better if they realized that these romantic signs should be more explicit for the audience. Then again, there is plenty in the sequel trilogy that would have been better had more thought been put into it. But it also doesn’t hurt to make those signs more subtle, leaving you wondering with a “will they or won’t they” situation in the end. IMO there is some big payoff with the kiss at the end.
