This might interest you.

Interestingly enough, a fan editor named movieking67 recreated this fan edit in HD  using the CG 1080i version. It's on CG. Has anyone checked it out perchance? I'm curious if it's a technically sound fan edit, or if I can put it on an AVCHD. Also, I'd be interested if it's 23.976 fps. Unfortunately, the last edit by movieking67 I watched was quite a bit of a mess: junk frames, heavy compression, etc.

EDIT: I'm going to bite the bullet and download the edit. Anyone interested in my findings?

Hi all!

Find its vhs copy or very old tv copy available and/or rip presented from 1931s and original Lugosi variant film with hardly retro film quality??? (Hardest dutch, scratches and more than restored version.) Really released opening sequence accompanied by a violin audio? Differences the 74 and 85 minutes version?

Found the net its called name: ‘dracula.1931st.bt.comfilm.ita.vhsrip’ <— spanish version? Longer than 85 min?

Cheers

The first two editions were dark, but reasonably accurate representations of the aged film.  The audio was nice, but there were errors and ommissions.  The “remastered” '06 edition corrected the missing audio elements, (edit: i was wrong, the 06 version is missing dracula’s death groans) but  the overall sound quality reverted to being a muffled mess. The image was overly brightened and cleaned, and lost its dark, creepy feel.

Apologies that I’m reply to a 9 year old comment (especially considering the BD kinda rectifies this threads original purpose) but actually the 2006 DVD does have Dracula’s death groans. Only the 2004 DVD lacked them (and Renfield’s death screams). I do agree about the audio being a muffled mess. Fortunately the BD fixes this. Another thing to note is the 1999 DVD lacks the musical cue at the end of the Opera scene.

It may be the same video transfer but I believe the Legacy disc allowed a higher bitrate because it have the movie more space than the comparatively cramped '99 disc.

Actually the 1999 disc despite being single sided and ‘cramped’ with extras (and technically an extra movie) still looked slightly better than the 2004.

@crissrudd4554: Can you tell us what are the messed up elements on the Blu-Ray compared to the DVDs and LDs, please ? I’m curious to learn about all that.

Thanks for the informations, BTW.

For the BD not much was changed. The only significant change would be the opening title card was redone to fix the noticeable jump cut during one of the transitions.
